Cabal Evangel

Creature — Human Cleric

I do notice that you have this as a mono-black aggro deck, but I have noticed most of your creatures are on the higher tip of the scale for cmc. It is generally for a aggro deck to have a low cost, decks like that have a very fast pace to them in order to finish the game before the enemy board state gets too large for you to handle. I personally suggest the following for creatures: Diregraf Ghoul Cabal Evangel Hired Poisoner Rat Colony and finally Two-Headed Zombie

All of those creatures are below a total of 4 cmc, and you are able to have as many rat colony cards in a deck as you like, so they can compensate for the amount of creatures you have in the deck. Your land count does not need to be tampered with, 20-24 is the golden number for a 60 card deck.

A bit of aggression you can give to someone by spells rather than creatures can be from cards like Mind Rot or Duress, duress being you have that in already, both can be cheap but controlling what your opponent can play and draw.

Hopefully my contributions do assist in the long run, if not, its still my 2 cents.

DerSchlund on card:Hell's Caretaker + card:Palace Siege

Hi there, I have a simple Question.

Due to the fact that I can only use Hell's Caretaker ability on my upkeep, I was wondering how it works with triggert abilities on my upkeep. Cause they trigger at the beginning of my upkeep and I have to declare a target for Palace Siege (on Khans mode)... right?

I have Hell's Caretaker, Palace Siege, a Cabal Evangel in my Graveyard and a Gutter Skulk on the Battlefield.

Can I use Hell's Caretaker so that I sac Gutter Skulk to return Cabal Evangel to the battlefield and then return Gutter Skulk from my yard to my hand?

Thanks ahead!

Thanks so much for the suggestions Highmastet!

I definitely understand what you mean about Torgaar being out of place. In the draft, his ability to reduce his cost is what got me through most games; even though I did make the make the mistake of thinking it was "half their life" instead of starting life. And with him in the deck it makes Board the Weatherlight more likely to work.

I'm pretty low-budget, but I'm loving the cards you're bringing up. And even though I really want a themed deck, in order to remain competitive, I have to make non-themed choices like Torgaar. I'm already replacing Cabal Evangel with Embraal Bruiser for more punch even though Clerics are more Knight-like in my mind. But I'm definitely going for Vona and Aryel when I expand it to full commander.

I would cut the Cabal Evangel for Gifted Aetherborn, the death and lifelink might slow opps down early game
