LabManiac_Cameron Deckling

I started magic in a kitchen table format in the summer of 2007. Shortly after the Morningtide release I was introduced to Commander and found my home in magic. Eight-and-a-Half-Tails was in the first generation of decks I created and has stuck with me.

While I thoroughly enjoy commander I consistently ran into more and more situations where new play groups had vastly different play styles and power levels than what I was used to. In the summer of 2016 I found a large group of players playing competitive EDH. In this I found something that had been missing from most EDH game play I had run into. A solid base to judge decks power on.

Judging a power level of a deck is very subjective and doesn't transfer well between play groups. However Competitive EDH (cEDH) has a set goal and decks are all striving to achieve that goal in whatever play style they can. Everyone knows what they are signing up for at the start of a game.

When getting into cEDH I translated my preferred style of play into cEDH - Attrition Control and Tasigur Seasons Past / Season Pastigur was born. While it has gone through several iterations, it has solidified a spot in cEDH environment for control decks.

I also am the video content creator for the Laboratory Maniacs. We also have a subreddit where we actively curate cEDH content. We are active on the PlayEDH Discord and on /r/competitiveEDH. Additionally our content is being posted on the TappedOut main page.

Thank you for the quick response! When you say mana positive rocks, the best ones I can think of are Crypt, Vault, Sol Ring and Grim Monolith. Making infinite colorless mana by cycling these and then start cycling the signets to make colored mana. Infinite mana, infinite storm, etc... am I missing anything? Love this deck, btw

TERMLESS - Tidespout is a bit of an in between of control and storm. It plays the control game but has multiple ways to push out a Tidespout and start the Beast Within + Reality Shift loop. Having the appropriate mana rocks for that route is very important. You need to have as many mana positive rocks as possible to raise the consistency of being able to Tidespout off easily. It has some advantages and some disadvantages to the harder control route.

It still plays hard control, it still is aiming at slowing down the game, getting to a point that you can have Tasigur out and activate him for card advantage.

Hello! I want to start by saying thank you. To you and the other lab maniacs for the consistently great content. Your tasigur // pastigur list inspired me to break away from a play style I had started to stagnant in (storm/combo) and try something new. As I was reading your primer, I came across the section talking about alt routes to infinite mana. Tidespout Tyrant interested most of all. I'm curious what your thoughts on it are. Running over it in my head it just seems like another storm/fast combo deck. What's your opinion? I'm trying to build a deck inspired by your deck while putting my own twist on it in the process. That way it's not a "cookie cutter" Tasigur control list. Just so you can see what I've got so far here's a link to my current list. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/22-10-17-tasigur-the-golden-fang/

rgwenceslao - Baral probably deserves a spot in here. Helm is one of those that won't help us when we are comboing the extra turns so I'd probably leave it out. Last Chance was in the deck that this was based off of but was cut for room for other cards.

Kokrem & brian.olson542 - Days Undoing isn't the best option unfortunately, you really want it to be on your turn. I would probably replace it with Mizzix's Mastery or another draw 7 such as Diminishing Returns or Reforge the Soul.

bimjowen - About that.... The Twins, Splintered.

Which also turned into..... Sans-Black Splinter Twin after lots of playtesting and ending turns with lots of untapped mana and just wanting a Thrasios to do something with it.
