Homeward Path and Gods

Asked by pedroedmarcos 5 years ago

Hey there,

I think I know the answers but I just want to make sure. 1 - If I control a theros's god like Heliod, God of the Sun (And he is a creature in my control) and my opponent steals him with Control Magic , or something like that. Will heliod become a enchantment without if my opponent don't have the devotion and return to me? 2 - Is there anyway of my opponent just "steal" my Gods permanently? Even with Homeward Path in the battlefield?

if a creature stops being a creature, any auras or equipment on it will "fall off". so if your opponent doesn't have the necessary devotion, you'll get your creature back. as for "permanently" taking your god, there are definitely ways. one is Blatant Thievery . but no matter which method they use, Homeward Path gets your creature back IF the god is a creature.

To be clear on one point: any auras that specifically say "Enchant creature" will fall off if the creature stops being a creature. An aura like Volition Reins or In Bolas's Clutches will stay attached because it can enchant any type of permanent.
