Help with if cards work together or not

Asked by PepperoniSecret 4 years ago

In my Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain EDH deck, my friend has told me that her draw ability does NOT work with Panharmonicon . Is this true? If Pan and Jhoira were both on the field, and a historic was cast and entered the battlefield, wouldn't I draw twice?

A triggered ability (which Panharmonicon is looking for) can be identified by the words "when," "whenever," or "at". So yes, it absolutely works.

nooo it does not work, jhoira's trigger looks for when you cast the spell not when it enters Mj3913 is entirely wrong. by the time the artifact entered the battlefield her ability would no longer care about it.

Shhhhh live your magical dreams of drawing cards with Jhoira. I probably should of been dreaming myself instead of commenting. XD

I think Strionic Resonator and Tawnos, Urza's Apprentice are the only permanents that can copy triggered ablilites like Jhoira's currently.

So just to pull everyone's answers together:

Jhoira, Weatherlight Captains's ability is an on cast trigger, whereas Panharmonicon 's ability is a replacement effect which specifically deals with enter the battlefield. This means that you would not draw as additional card from Jhoira's ability as these two effects do not interact with each other.

As Rzepkanut: pointed out, Strionic Resonator can be used to copy Jhoira's triggered ability while it is on the stack. Tawnos, Urza's Apprentice will not be able to copy Johira's ability (unless you make Jhoira into an artifact creature) since the source of the ability comes from a Jhoira herself, not the artifact being cast.

Does not work. Keyword is cast. Casting a spell happens before resolution of a spell

Entering is what panhermonicon is looking for, not cast
