Vendilion Clique - is it still worth to play it?

More specifically does Vendilion Clique provide any benefit over Spell Queller, or the spirit is just better?
(barring mana costs)

For me it seems that being non-legendary, not dying to lingering souls tokens (at least from a single cast), always providing full value when cast (instead of not finding anything useful in the opponents hand), would make the newer card better...

Clique can be cast end of their turn and you get info out of it, letting you hold up better counterspells. A 3/1 is generally a 6 turn clock (aasuming 2 life list from fetches) as opposed to a 9 turn clock. You can target yourself with Clique to cycle. You always at least get info. Mono blue too.

Clique seems to be falling out of favor with a lot of the more recent blue based control and mid-range builds. Virtually no one uses in the emerging UWx archetype. It also doesn't pop up much in BUG or Grixis thanks to winners like Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Death's Shadow. It just seems to be a lot less relevant these days when one can get better clocks on T3 and get information while helping Death's Shadow for only . I personally expect a price drop until faeries becomes a thing again or someone figures out a place for it.

It may not be as prevalent as it once was in the modern scene but don't expect the price to drop too much as it is still pretty good in EDH as well as Legacy

I think people just look at the card kind of wrong. Its not really a control card. Its fine in control decks but its not stupendous its more of a tempo card. Flash, flying, info, disruption, and higher attack then defense just make it a potent tempo threat as it really does everything. So you wont see it in grixis control and uwx control as much but its still solid in tempo creature decks like different flavors of delver, merfolk funny enough, UWx flash decks along side spell queller.

I think that queller is generally better in a lot of shells. It's not worth splashing for, but if you're already a Uwx tempo deck, then queller is just more useful. It keeps you from dying to combo decks, whereas clique might take a threat, and might cycle them into a new threat. With the queller, you at least know that their thing is gone. I don't think that the power difference is of any significance since you're also likely running Geist or burn spells. I don't know if queller is actually better card for card than clique, but it plays nicer in established Uw shells.

If you think your deck is more proactive, play clique. If it's more reactive, play queller.

Clique is proactive - you can cast it while actively advancing your own gameplan. It also is more disposable in the sense that its dying doesn't benefit your opponent beyond the fact that they killed a creature. Last but not least, the extra point of power makes it a better clock. Spell Queller can be very good in decks that can protect it effectively, but Clique is the easier card to just jam into a deck.

What's better for your deck a counter spell or hand control? I'd go with the spirit. Also depends on your meta
