Might I suggest brushing up on the available cards before your start netdecking? Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I see it all over and frankly I think people are losing their creativity because of it.

Wizards of the coast (gatherer.wizards.com)and many other sites offer great card search engines. Go to the advanced search and start plugging in keywords, cmc's, colors etc. Come up with a deck that's uniquely your own. Then look at other decks and see what works and what doesn't. I've made a lot of crappy decks, but ya know what? They are MY crappy decks. :)

Good luck and let's see what you come up with.

Avoid the homebrew elitism. It's getting tiresome now. Some people enjoy playing netdecks. Other's don't. Please get over yourself. It's really not a nice thing to call someone out on their deck playing preference. I don't go around a criticise homebrews for being poorly formulated, and I likewise think others should stop going around and criticising netdecks for "lacking imagination" or whatever else they say.

I'll second ChiefBell's comment, and note that it's amusing to hear someone bemoan "netdecking" for a deck that's so far off the beaten path most poeple haven't even heard of it. Avoid Special Snowflake Syndrome - you can be a brewer without it.

I agree 100% with ChiefBell, especially in a format that is competitive like Modern. It is a format that probably 95-99% of games are played with a competitive mindset, and it is very difficult to brew a new good deck. NB Delver is less than 1% of the meta probably, so building it is as creative as anything needs to be.

I play burn in modern and I think of myself as being creative when I test different 1 or 2 ofs in the mainboard like Lightning Helix, Shard Volley, Exquisite Firecraft, or 19 lands. I would start by net decking and then tune it a little to your local meta.

The other cool version I've seen people play around with is a Fae shell with ninjitsu tricks to loop Spellstutter Sprites, Vendilion Clique, Sower of Temptation, and Mistbind Clique.

Here is one such decklist, although it's a bit old and would need some updating.

I have to agree with manatitheguy.

Looking up cards that could be played in the archetype would hurt no netdeckers... yet for some reason it is despised.
Having greater knowledge about the deck you play than knowing as the usual cards can help, if for no other reason, then because player who knows his options can easily adapt to a changing meta.
