Is Cosmic Larva an eldrazi titan in larva form?

Just look at its flavor text: Cosmic Larva.

From what I know, only planeswalkers and the eldrazi titans can travel from plane to plane.

I'm going to say 'no' just because I'm tired of Eldrazi suddenly popping up on every Tom, Dick and Mirrodin.

No is probably the right answer, but I dont have a good reason why.

I don't think so, but nice find though. Besides, I don't think Eldrazi eat metal...

Could also be Phyrexians, as they can travel from plane to plane via oil, and definitely fit better with the "devouring metal" part. Also, it's Mirrodin, and there are supposed to be hints towards the Phyrexians in original Mirrodin block.

I concur, its probably a phyrexian creation but that's still a super cool find.

Probably a solid no, for a few major reasons.

A: It's Red. While Eldrazi Drones can be of color, you're suggesting this is a larval Eldrazi Titan. This would certainly be colorless.

B: It's seeking metal. Eldrazi don't seek metal; it's not even entirely clear what they "seek." Ulamog consumes mana and life, Kozilek breaks down and warps reality and landscapes, and Emrakul twists/creates life. But, on each of the known planes they've been encountered on, they did not go there of their own volition. Nahiri pulled Emrakul to Innistrad, and even The Three had to drag the Titans to Zendikar once their hedron prison was complete - it wasn't built around them already being there. There are theories as to what the Eldrazi are searching for when looking for planes to focus on, but metal is definitely not it.

C: The time reference. For it to be known they've been wandering for millennia, there must have been records of them having been not wandering, millennia ago. Eldrazi don't leave records. Until they were freed from their prison (which was about 6000 years old when they were released in full), only the Three knew of and could have known of their existence - as anyone else would have to have been on a place they were destroying, and thus would die - and they kept it secret. The only exception to that would be Nicol Bolas, as he sought out Ugin explicitly for the knowledge to release the Eldrazi, but he also would not have shared information about them with anyone, by his own nature.

D: There's more than one. A single larval Titan would not be out of the question. But there is at least one other of these cosmic larvae in the background of the art, and presumably more by the way the flavor text speaks of them. The fact that so many of them could exist, and be so similar, betrays the fact that the Eldrazi Titans are all vastly dissimilar. While all have tentacles, that pretty much ends their shared biology. Ulamog and his brood have protruding bones, split limbs, and faceless skulls. Kozilek and his brood are noticeably more symmetrical, have floaty bits, and eyes across their body, namely on joints. Emrakul doesn't even have the same body shape as her brothers, being a jellyfish, and doesn't have a natural brood of her own, instead shaping existing matter into her image. If these are Eldrazi, they would be broodlings, not Titans. But that can't be true either because...

D(*): Only Titans can travel the Blind Eternities. They use broodlings only because they are so massively powerful that they are unable to fully enters planes - appearing only as manifestations - unless forced to appear in their full, horrifying but vulnerable form by twisting leylines around them. But the broodlings do not have such restraints, and thus have no need for the power to "planeswalk." But since these cosmic larvae apparently can, they're not broodlings. However...

E: Eldrazi and planeswalkers are not the only beings capable of planar travel. There is of course the Phyrexians, with their portals, but the text here seems to imply they travel by their own efforts, not through portals. Marit Lage can traverse the blind eternities. Although she is a very powerful sorceress, it's never been explained how she could do so, given planeswalking also requires magic on top of the innate Planeswalker's Spark. Thus, it's possible that not all beings capable of surviving the Blind Eternities have been or even can be documented, and not all may be interesting or remarkable like 'walkers or Eldrazi.

Yeah it's really just something else that can travel the BE.

That said I think beast is a goofy subtype for it to have.

I would honestly just call this loosely written flavor text that is probably not worth reading into. Also their wandering would have happened pre-mending so between the planes worked slightly differently.

Pre-mending there were sort of a lot of things besides planes walkers and Eldrazi that could traverse the blind eternities, so this probably doesn't mean anything.

Neat find though.
