One of my top cards is one I can't find a home for: Nikya of the Old Ways. She's great and all, but she competes with Xenagos, God of Revels for the Gruul EDH deck in my collection.

ZendikariWol: Not really. I was clowning around a bit (No, I'm not a Rakdos player), but I'm just as curious as to what will happen to him. I'm banking on him staying rather than forsaking his duties once again.

ZendikariWol: Awww, can't Jace just be turned into a Rakdos sock puppet or end up like the puppet in Cult Guildmage?

That Ooze seems like it would fit with Ezuri, Claw of Progress, but what about Rhys the Redeemed? It's definitely good with the former.

cdkime: Idk...I heard rumors that the 'Watch will no longer be as relevant after this, so I'm betting the 2nd option. Maybe at some point he'll pay a visit to Vryn.

Point is, Ixalan's story told us that this is not the Jace we all loathed. He's a changed man now, all of his memories now unlocked. That, and there was a part where he realizes that his absences were problematic.

From there, I can see two scenarios:

  1. Jace remains, and upholds his position.

  2. Jace returns a spark to Azor (ala Immortal Sun), and has him be the Guildpact instead.

The first's more likely, imo.

AgentGreen: I wouldn't say Bolas's plan. Remember, she's very likely to defect when she learns the truth. If anything, this is what Kaya would do. It's a part of her character.

That said, I bet Teysa won't be too thrilled about it.

Looks like the Orzhov will never be the same again.

ZendikariWol: You just made Galloping Lizrog very sad. Go to your corner and think about what you just said.

That said, I agree with you. There's only a couple of cards that remove +1/+1 counters. A pity.

Darkshadow327: I dare you to say (or imagine) those words in Barney's voice.

Nothing's more beautiful (in this case) than a purple dinosaur going on a bloody rampage.

January 5, 2019 10:11 p.m.

DemonDragonJ: I imagine old Borby stepped aside so Domri can do his thing.

Also, remember Teysa was imprisoned the last time we saw her. Here's what I think happened.

  1. Bolas tasks Kaya with killing the Obzedat.

  2. She learns that Teysa's currently imprisoned. As she knows where the Obzedat's crypt is, she's an obvious go-to.

  3. Kaya makes a deal with Teysa: I'll set you free and let you keep your position if you let me be guildmaster and help me take out the Obzedat.

  4. Obzedat dies; and the bargain's fulfilled.

The caveat? Like on the flavor text of Karlov of the Ghost Council, Teysa's ambitious, so she's no doubt biding her time until something happens to Kaya so she can make her move and claim the guildmaster title.

Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor: GATE? GRUUL SMASH GATE!

I imagine Ruric will have riot, since the non-mythic legends either have the guild mechanic or are tied to it in some way. What would be awesome is that Ruric embodies the "Gruul Smash!" mold that Xenagos, God of Revels exemplifies.

Intruder Alarm is already spiking too.

January 3, 2019 3:03 p.m.

Boza: But it has to survive an entire turn cycle before it can do its thing. The card is a giant telegraph the size of the Empire State Building, screaming "Kill me!"

EDIT: And Xenagos gives haste, not trample.

January 3, 2019 8:59 a.m.

My Xenagos deck was drooling over this...until I read "At the beginning of your upkeep." So sad...

Gleeock: My turns are mostly short. Mostly, I go to combat, swing with Odd-Sphinx, cast the card on top, then end. I cast spells in the other phases occasionally. I made the deck so it isn't super complicated to play. I can link my list if you want me to.

December 31, 2018 2:36 p.m.

griffstick: I don't recall playing against Narset, but I have witnessed those decks go off. I tried to take some care about what extra turn cards made it in, but I'll remove all of them if, again, it's an issue.

December 31, 2018 8:32 a.m.

Arvail: It, Temporal Mastery and Temporal Trespass are the only extra turn cards I run (for everyone's sakes). Removing Expropriate means I'll probably slip a Time Warp in its place (or Nexus of Fate the day a nonfoil version is printed). I admit that I consistently had a strong presence once Yennett got going, and I adore the deck.

snotice: The main remedy is to remove the problem card. My build has an aggro side to it, after all. I only ever plan to run 3 extra turn cards here, so I'd simply add a new one in Expropriate's place.

December 30, 2018 10:57 p.m.

Reference: Expropriate

I had a couple of games in with my new Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign deck, and there were times I hit Expropriate off the top. The whole table agreed to scoop it up and move to the next game (The last time was convenient for me because I had to leave).

Reflecting on the card's performance made me wonder if it was running in the first place. I would've thought people would vote money (and I always voted time) whenever I cast it. Is scooping to the card resolving justified or not? If it's that bad, I'll remove it for something else. Thanks in advance.
