Are you a Vorthos with passions for other fandoms? Well then you will love this new format!

Here are the rules of Silver Screen Commander:

  1. Start with the Commander format. The rest of these rules are the changes made to that format.

  2. There are no color restrictions. (Every commander can be the commander of a five-color deck.)

  3. Choose a movie, comic book, manga, tv show, anime, video game, or any other type of visual art medium. Every card in the deck except for basic lands must be altered with an image from that chosen medium.

  4. Every major character, major plot event, major location, and major item shown in that medium must be represented by one or more cards, and those cards have to be the best fit available for that aspect of the medium. If it's central to the story, and it's shown, it has to go in the deck.

  5. The commander must be represented by the main character or the most central main character of that medium.

If you want a sample SSC deck, here is one I just finished: Gwafa Hazid, Profiteer: Game of Thrones SSC

Rule 4 is super subjective. Like... Unplayably so.

Already I'm thinking of a Deadpool Deck, Richard from LFG, and for some laughs, possibly a Three Stooges deck. This could be interesting, but you'd definitely need to make sure people in the groups you play with are okay with the changes.

Rule 4 could use some work, it might make it extremely difficult to find the right cards that would fit a certain criteria.

Great idea though.

PhotogenicParasympathetic, actually it's deceptively objective. Look up the wiki for your chosen medium, and you will see that limiting down the cards to the most "major" ones is pretty obvious. For example, if you think something is missing from that sample deck that was shown and is central to the overarching storyline of Game of Thrones, I just add it in and take out the least central card.

ExiledBlood, I am going to shoot this idea to my playgroup, that way we can all build a deck for this format and test it out :) and there are lots of cards in magic, so there should be something for almost everything/everyone.

ExiledBlood the Three Stooges commander should be Sen Triplets.

Sen Triplets would be a good good commander for the Three Stooges. Wild Ricochet could become something like (Poke him as I poke you), Hero's Downfall becoming (Tripped!). Hmm. I might just start pulling a deck together.

I'm not the only one who has thought of trying to build a Firefly EDH deck. Unfortunately, there often seems to be a difference between a card that might represent a character well and the colour(s) that character might be considered to be. For example, Kaylee would be really well represented by an artificer, but I wouldn't consider her to fit into red or blue very much.

Kaylee could be Hanna, Ship's Navigator :D It's not totally accurate, but the flavor text is so perfect

By the way, my brother is going to do skyrim based on the Dovahkiin: Surrak Dragonclaw and I'm thinking I might build another for The Last Airbender: Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest or the Crystal Gems: Sen Triplets (and steven)...
