small update —Sept. 19, 2019

-1 ornithopter +1 k'rik son of yawgmoth

Not the best as a general but in the 99 of this deck it shines as an amazing ramp card. Essentially we will always pay just 4 colorless mana for this card and then accelerate all our other plays out quite quickly.

Just curious (I'm just starting edh) why not include Phyrexian Arena for card draw? Seems like a better option than Dark Confidant?

Also if you wouldn't mind taking a look at might slightly more budget build I would really appreciate it. I'm wondering what are the next things to prioritize. I'm happy to credit you.

Nawg phyrexian arena is just a dead card often. at least dark confidant can both attack and block and can be sacrificed to yawgmoth to draw another card and distribute a -1 counter

out of the cards you listed vampiric tutor is def the #1 card to get followed by mana crypt, scroll rack and lastly the fetches. the fetches help with your senseis top and bolas citadel activations so they are still very important and they help remove lands from your deck so you can get to your action cards

I built a deck that is much inspired by this list and it's been really fun and competitive so far. The secret tech I'd like to share from my playthrough is Myojin of Night's Reach. When you're doing well, but not closing the game this turn 100%, you can drop Myojin and proliferate the divinity counter, now you can crush every opponents hand's over and over again to make sure they can't interfere the next time around. Really killed morale in a game that I almost lost. Playing Myojin and proliferate caused everyone to scoop instantly even though I was at 10 life.

dejanigma that is a sweet play indeed! I hadn't thought about proliferating the divinity counter. I havent really played a game that lasted long enough to cast such a high cmc creature but it does seem pretty soul crushing to be able to do it every turn lol !

Definitely enjoying the deck even though my version is about 75%, none of the lands beyond Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, but it still works great. Had some major comebacks.

Here’s some budget recommendations for the most expensive cards :

Instead of Mox Diamond , you could use Jeweled Amulet

Instead of Imperial Seal you could use Scheming Symmetry

There really isn’t any replacement for Mana Crypt .. it’s the best card at what it does. You can put any mana rock that’s 2 or less mana.

Ok awesome, will have to pick those up, thank you. I am super happy I finally got my hands on vampiric tutor. Guess I'll try and get my hands on the vault next ^.^ thoughts on using the other mox's? Like the metal craft one? (Its 4am I cant think of its name)

I wouldn’t run mox opal here ( the metalcraft one) because we just don’t run enough artifacts for it to be online often enough

Great deck and an inspiration for me. The only suggestion I have at the moment is perhaps Carrier Thrall in place of Doomed Dissenter , or maybe run them both. I just feel that Carrier Thrall leaves a more useful token upon his demise.

Nic44 hey thats a great recommendation! The thrall does seem better than doomed dissenter by of the mana his token can generate. Might have to remove one of the other cards so I can run both. Thanks!

I keep thinking I have a hard time justifying not running Mikaeus here especially with all the bodies that also produce tokens on death. Like yawg and mikeaus and one of those guys loop. I feel like I wanna cut the kinda bad 4 drop undying creatures and run mike and probably walking balista. Mike is going to make all your non undying creatures great, it's easily entombed or buried alive of discarded to yawg and reanimated and 6 isn't a big ask with rituals and rocks maybe lake of the dead should be here too. I feel like there are too many great board states where mike just loops even without any enablers but yawg and bodies. Dooomed disentor and crew loop themselves. Ive played a ton of games with the list and imo the four drop undying dudes are kinda meh for me. I know you said mike was slow for you before and I would agree if like and trike was the backup combo but balistabis better then trike and Mike makes so many of your dudes do what you want.

Edit to above post: I realized two of the three token produces we're human but if you replace one of them with the thrall I still think that's good enough to justify xD

Mjordan887 hey if you like to run mike go for it, in my testing it just wasn't good enough. Sure you can use situations where you can entomb-reanimate it however when you can't its nice to know you can just slam a couple cheap undying creatures and just win. I have found it to be much more consistent to win with the actual small cost undying creatures than to have to rely on reanimation because when you have mike in hand and no reanimation its just too expensive to be a reliable way to combo off.

shadowmage. Fair enough I just find it working for me I also play delver and very often go buried alive mike, delver, Gary/blood artist/villis. I've been playing with grave crawler as well since with delver and Mike I'm at like 6 zombies and Dreadhorde Invasion and it's been nuts.
