While this deck looks fun, it's shut down way too easily by a counterspell.

Hey Craig,

Played 4 player pod competitive 2 days ago, made some last minute modifications to play something closer to what you have but blended with my deck.

Drew into an awesome hand with this combo:

Temur Sabertooth + Cloud of Faeries + Wild Growth (this was added from your recommendation)

Had Fierce Empath as well, tutored for Soul of the Harvest for the win.

I'd strongly consider adding Temur Sabertooth to your build. You've got 2 pieces of the puzzle already between Peregrine Drake & Cloud of Faeries.

Personally, I'd drop Ainok Survivalist

Hey Craig, I was in the same boat on Earth Craft, too many times it felt out of place due to the lack of basic lands. I've recently added it back, will test more on my end.

I'm running both Earthcraft & Aluren, might end up cutting both - not sure yet. I can't decide if I want to keep those Win Con lines available.

GSZ - love this card, cannot tell you how many times it's helped me get out of a sticky situation.Thran Quarry & Exotic Orchard - Must add, I've personally had them on the list since day 1.

I've tuned things a little more, excited to see how it plays out this weekend.

Den Protector - Arcane Denial

Primordial Sage - Wandered

Soul of the Harvest - Concencrated Sphinx

Bond Beetle - Counterflux

Rishkar, Peema Renegade - Joiner Adept

The next subs will most likely be Phantasmal Image & Stunt Double.

I'm strongly considering reducing the win con lines, it's a hard decision but I'll definitely test it with the meta.

Part of me focused more on the counter magic to stop the other combo players but I've come to realize, that's not Animar's role in the meta.

Truly appreciate the input.

Cool, pretty much the same as the meta I'm in, the only difference is instead of Gitgo & Blood Pod, we've got Narset & Teferi.

I've dropped a few of your suggestions to make the deck play faster. With the changes, more draw & lower cmc. From 3.47 to 3.13. I'd like to get under 2 CMC - most likely Consecrated Sphinx & Wandere are getting dropped.

I'm having trouble parting ways with any of the counter magic, most likely adding in Pact of Negation & Siren Stormtamer.

I'm having a real hard time with the decision of dropping:

Deadeye/Palinchron - Palinchron has saved me way too many times and tutors nicely off Fierce Empath

Kiki Combo - The easy win and very easy to tutor for.

Trophy Mage - Grabs Cloudstone

Void winnower - This card has won games, stalls them big time and really has helped.

JMCraig - Enjoying your list, I had a very similar build and then tweaked it in a different direction.

The Meta I'm in is a huge COMBOWOMBO and I've been running into issues not being able to go off by Turn 4 or 5.

Any suggestions you'd make to Animar, Soul of Combos - Fun Police ?

Ancestral Statue - A Must add to this deck, once Animar has 4+ counters on it, this is a free cast to bounce itself and make Animar infinitely big. If you want to keep it "toned down" you just make Animar "larger".

Cloudstone Curio - Must add force being able to flicker cards, it's insane.

Would drop Beguiler of Wills as it only helps against creature decks, high mana cost and truly only works if you have a haste enabler.

Would drop Prime Speaker Zegana - I played with this for a while and it always felt like the mana cost was WAYYYYY to high for the benefit. Very rarely did I want to tap 2x green & 2x blue to draw 3-4 cards and then not be able to play those cards because you're tapped out.

Fauna Shaman & Survival of the Fittest are must adds - these will truly help you get whatever creatures you need at the time you need them. It's especially clutch to activate these are the End Step of the player before your turn.

Lastly, I would try to lower the CMC. Even with Animars great ability, the higher the CMC the harder it'll be to get going again if Animar gets owned.
