Less Aggro, More Control —Aug. 24, 2016

Was checking out RUG Modern and Legacy decks. Decided to add more control, although I know due to limitation of multiples it won't be nearly as control as Modern/Legacy builds. More big beaters will try to make up for counterspells. Basically this deck used to be RG splashing U, now it's more evened out.

Suggestions welcome.

Temur Battle Rage would be a lot of fun in this. Maybe make room for Courser of Kruphix to help filter your draws?

Good idea! I need more win-cons in this deck.

Thing in the Ice  Flip would also be really cool with all of the spells you are slinging. it's easy to deal with but if they don't have an answer, well..

and if you can hit tripple green easily (or pack Green Sun's Zenith you can play Leatherback Baloth. i can also recommend Rancor to give trample and more buffs and Assault Strobe for the awesome flavor text and a cheaper way to double strike

I can't decide if I want to go with a "zoo" build with big bonkers creatures like hydras and dragons etc. while stealing my opponent's blockers and just smacking face, OR go the more control route where I protect my commander with spells, steal my opponent's creatures to sac them for value. I think the second option is quite vulnerable, because there is so much effective removal in the format, especially in W/B, which I don't have access to. I think I'll keep the ramp and add more badass creatures, basically forcing my opponent to have a response, cutting the counter-spells and tempo creatures.

Yeah the more I think about it, Temur colours just can't compete with the Esper colours of removal and control. Face-smacking is best plan.

So I playtested your deck against mine and have some suggestions.

All three signets I would recomm no replacing with more dudes. I drew all three and all three were bad draws and one was a game losing top-deck.

I will playtest more this afternoon.
