I'm a fan! Try Blood Artist for more gain/drain, Swords to Plowshares Anguished Unmaking for good removal, Drana's Emissary and Ajani's Mantra for steady lifegain triggers for Karlov.

Hey,

Came over to took at your deck like you asked. I really like some of the stuff you're doing here. Nice find on Wrench Mind and Retribution of the Ancients.

As a more budgety version of my deck you've definitely succeeded. My only concern is how high your curve is. Not only do you have more 3 drops than anything else, but you have things like Loxodon Warhammer which is really expensive to equip. Personally I would probably cut the Whispersilk Cloak. When Karlov is swinging I actually really like it when my opponent commits to bad blocks. Also it prevent you from giving Karlov Lifelink with Alabaster Mage.

For creatures I think you should reconsider Mentor of the Meek, and Thraben Doomsayer. Both at 3 mana make no real large scale impact on the board. Remember, in Tiny Leaders your 3 drops are your bombs. When you play one you want your opponent to poop a little.

For the cloak, mentor, and doomsayer I think some excellent budget replacements in this deck would be:

  • Sign in Blood
  • Night's Whisper
  • Mirran Crusader

werenotworthy thanks for the suggestions. The first 3 seem to be slightly outside my budget (Swords to Plowshares maybe, but I'd rather not spend if I can avoid). Drana seems seems to be quite slow, and I don't think Ajani's Mantra is worth a card slot; it doesn't seem to do enough on its own.

Voitagi Thank you for the detailed suggestions and I am glad you like it. I am also worried about the mana curve but couldn't decide what to cut. Your suggestions seem like a step in the right direction.

I haven't had the chance to test the deck yet, but I am somewhat worried I may have trouble reaching the Chalice of Life transform condition, especially with all the self-inflicted life loss in the deck. In that case, it seems like nothing more than an expensive healing artifact, which could be changed to something cheaper e.g. Sun Droplet, Tablet of the Guilds, Blind Obedience etc.

Silverblade Paladin is also something I'd really love to include, but can't find the space. Even with the limitations of Soulbond, double strike should be really powerful. Midnight Haunting looks like a good candidate to switch out but I don't want to underestimate the spirits.

Wow has Blood Artist spiked. Sorry about that. Anguished Unmaking will probably drop withing the year; maybe keep it in mind for future reference?
