Disappointed Results —Feb. 9, 2014

I tested the changes I have made recently minus my Firecat Blitz (because Top-Deck Hobbies is a bunch of incompetent assholes and lost my order and refused to replace or refund it) and I am still not happy with the results.

I believe that due to the increasingly competitive nature of my play group this silly casual deck gets picked on and shut out of the game. I am currently at a crossroads of whether to continue to try and upgrade/tweak this deck or just disassemble it and create a new deck entirely.

At this juncture I am weighing the possibility of reintroducing creatures back into the deck to prevent people from constantly removing Ashling and taking free shots until I am shut out of the game.

I would suggest adding is some damage over time effects that you only need to pay for once and then they can "ping" away at life totals. These will help with your end goal of burning out your opponents while not being to overbearing or paint a big target on you. A few damage every turn can go unnoticed until you are ready for the big "X" spell or Ashling "pop" to finish them off. Also some life gain prevention might be handy for those opponents who try to put their life total out of your reach. Below are some cards that illustrate what I mean.

AEther Sting
Ankh of Mishra
Burning Earth
Leyline of Punishment
Manabarbs
Spellshock
Sulfuric Vortex

Opal Palace Ashling is bound to die. I can only imagine that running only 1 creatures place you in many situations where you need to wipe the board to avoid being overrun. Since Ashling interact with counters, I can see Opal Palace being put to good use.

Genju of the Spires Wipe the board then swing for 6. Since your mountain becomes a creature on until the end of turn, you don't risk loosing it to boardwipe. Also if something goes bad and you lose your mountain, you don't lose Genju of the Spires
