Bronzebeak Foragers

Creature — Dinosaur

When Bronzebeak Foragers enters the battlefield, for each opponent, exile up to one target nonland permanent that player controls until Bronzebeak Foragers leaves the battlefield.

: Put target card with converted mana cost/mana value X exiled with Bronzebeak Foragers into its owner's graveyard. You gain X life. (This is a linked ability, linked to the ability in the first paragraph on this card. You may only put the exiled card in the graveyard if it was exiled via the ability in the first paragraph.)

Crow_Umbra on Isshin Semi-budget

No prob, happy to help! Do you have a general budget per card? I wanted to make sure that the stuff I recommended generally stuck within the budget the rest of the list seemed to have. Is there anything you have in mind for the type of effect you were looking for the 4 drop?

I'm generally a fan of keeping the curve trim for Isshin. I think most of what the deck wants tends to be mostly in the 2-4 cmc range. A few different 4 drop options:

  • Bronzebeak Foragers - Basically a Grasp of Fate on a body that can be copied by Delina, Wild Mage

  • Firemane Commando - Also complimentary to Breena & rewards you for attacking around the table.

  • Mishra, Claimed by Gix  Meld - I wouldn't even bother with the Meld aspect. Mishra can be a pretty solid finisher option for group slug shenanigans.

  • Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser - Newer tech from MKC. Can compliment the Breena you have in your 99 & be another draw source.

  • Ogre Battledriver - Another haste anthem can be helpful for an aggro deck. The other benefit is getting that +2/+0 power buff for when creatures ETB, so it can definitely add a bit more punch to your tokens that ETB tapped & attacking.

Crow_Umbra Excellent suggestions across the board, always love amd treasure your feedback. The reason Cavalier of Dawn is here because bringing enchantments back from the graveyard has proven to be super useful, especially since I don't have much recursion and the enchantment suite is pretty strong, but I need more ramp to justify the white pips. And Bronzebeak Foragers is an excellent fit for this deck, I'll have to mull that.

Hour of Reckoning is probably a pet card at this point tbh, but the white cost is easy to mitigate with convoke- might swap ot out.

Volatile Fault is an auto include thank you.

Detective of the Month is top of my list for potential cuts but I want to see how it plays, being able to copy it might make it worthwhile but it's conditional upon that so I'll have to see how it plays.

Both protection suggestions are great, if I have enough cuts Fanatical Devotion will be great. Also don't know how i missed that for Brenard?! Excellent suggestions all around as always, I'll post an update after I play it this weekend (:

Thank you for reaching out Tsukimi, I deeply appreciate it. I like your custom commander, she seems like a fun twist on this clue/token archetype. In your play-testing, I'd say def be cognizant of how prohibitive (or not) the 3 clue sac requirement is. I don't play with Clues much, so I forgot they don't have to tap like Treasures lol. I almost recommended that the Clues she creates ETB tapped, like Ognis, the Dragon's Lash.

Anyways lol, in looking at what you have so far, here are a few thoughts I have:

  • Your 7ish sources of ramp that I'm seeing might be a bit low. Could be worth it to maybe get in 2-3 mana dorks for a little more acceleration on turns 1-3 (if that feels lacking).

  • Generally speaking, I always feel a bit iffy on cards like Hour of Reckoning, which have a very heavy single color investment, for 3 color decks. On that note, I think Cavalier of Dawn & Hour of Reckoning could be potential swap outs.

  • Bronzebeak Foragers could be a potential swap for Cavalier of Dawn, & gives you another Druid of Purification-esque effect that you could copy.

  • Detective of the Month could be a potential swap, mostly because you only have 2 other Detectives in deck, not counting the Detective tokens she could make.

  • Volatile Fault could be a cool addition to your mana base, especially since it makes a Treasure token.

  • Scapegoat and Fanatical Devotion are both fairly budget protection effects that can make use of the creature tokens your deck will make.

  • Fractured Identity seems kinda risky. I recognize that you could break parity with some of your token doubling/copying effects, but I feel like it could be troublesome to remove a big threat, and now there's suddenly 2 copies opposing you. I'd recommend checking out Soul Partition as a removal and protection option.

All in all, the rest looks pretty solid. I was surprised at how strong the reprints are in this precon. I'll take another look at your deck once I'm off work. These were just some quick thoughts I had on first look.

Crow_Umbra on Where in the world is Carmen

I saw your forum post, and figured I'd leave my suggestions here:

  • Scapegoat - Can help with board protection for stuff you wouldn't want to die (mostly Carmen).

  • Bartolome del Presidio - Kind of like another Carrion Feeder. Helpful to have another free sac outlet that can also grow into a threat.

  • Plumb the Forbidden - Maybe can replace Village Rites or Corrupted Conviction. Excellent draw, especially when used in response to board wipes. One of my favorite uses was using it in response to a Living Death lol.

  • Fanatical Devotion - Another free sac outlet that can help you protect key creatures.

  • Curse of the Restless Dead - Could be another means of getting creature tokens to sac, even if you enchant yourself with it. I think this or Fanatical Devotion could replace Monologue Tax, which felt very underwhelming each time I played it.

  • Loran of the Third Path - Another helpful ETB removal with some upside for political draw.

  • Chittering Witch - ETB token creator with a bit of removal

  • Bronzebeak Foragers - More ETB removal that can be repeated with Carmen. Kind of like a Grasp of Fate on a stick.

  • Luminous Broodmoth - Helps recur your sacrificed creatures and turns them into more effective attackers/blockers, assuming they didn't already have flying.

  • Vito, Fanatic of Aclazotz - A value engine that cares about you sacrificing permanents.

  • Lich-Knights' Conquest - Could be a means of doing a "surgical" version of Living Death, and get back some of your ETB removal like Fleshbag Marauder and crew.

I think you have a solid start so far in terms of trying to balance out sac fodder creation and sac enablers. Every meta is different, but I think with how prevalent Treasures and similar types of tokens are now, Carmen should get some incidental growth from other players, but will definitely require some testing in your local metas to determine that. I think having a decent amount of Free Sac Outlets to let you control your own sacrificing at instant speed should be helpful too, especially if some of those effects can help you protect Carmen, or at least replenish resources if she is removed.
