If I cast Pithing Needle and say Phyrexian Obliterator is his last abilty a static ability or an activated ability?

Phyrexian Obliterator 's last ability is not a static or activated ability. It is a triggered ability. Triggered abilities begin with "When/Whenever/At..."
From the Comprehensive Rules:
603.1. Triggered abilities have a trigger condition and an effect. They are written as “[When/Whenever/At] [trigger condition or event], [effect]. [Instructions (if any).]”

@Delphen7: The trigger condition for Phyrexian Obliterator 's last ability is "whenever a source deals damage to phyrexian obliterator", hence why it is a triggered ability and not a static ability.

There are a few ways around Phyrexian Obliterator 's ability, though Pithing Needle is not one. You could counter with something like Voidslime , though you'll have to do this every time. You could also remove the ability with a card like Kenrith's Transformation or Frogify .
Of course, the best way is to use Justice Strike and see if that makes them concede.

It's a static ability.
Activated abilities can be recognized by [Cost]:[Effect]. Since Obliterator doesn't need a cost, it's not a activated ability. Static abilities usually are just always in effect, they don't depend on anything, and Obliterator's ability has no conditions its just there. Doing it's thing. Ruining your plans :)
