Infinite combos as well as interaction of Hermit Druid and Ulamog

Asked by UpperDeckerTaco 8 years ago

If you cannot stop your infinite combo, do you just lose the match?

For example, if I do not have any more Basic Lands in my library, and I use Hermit Druid's ability to cycle through my deck, mainly to trigger Sidisi, Brood Tyrant, and hit Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre to reshuffle my graveyard into my deck, and keep doing this infinitely because I no longer have a basic land left in my library to get from Hermit Druid's ability, what exactly happens and if I need to stop an infinite loop to NOT lose the match, what are some good suggestions to do so? Thank you.

Also, from Hermit Druid's ability, and Sidisi, Brood Tyrant in play, do you get a zombie for every creature that hits the bin? So do you reveal 1 at a time and put 1 card at a time in the graveyard therefore triggering Sidisi each instance, or do you reveal all cards and then put all revealed cards into the graveyard at once triggering Sidisi only once?

This isn't infinite. What will happen is that since Hermit Druid's ability won't find a basic land, you will end up revealing all cards in your library and then putting them all into the graveyard as Hermit Druid's ability resolves. THEN, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre's ability will be put on the stack, but Hermit Druid's ability has finished resolving, so it won't kick back off after you Ulamog's ability subsequently resolves.

As for your second question, they all go at the same time, so you only get 1 zombie.

However, I play a Sidisi EDH deck entirely rotating around infinite combos! So there is hope, you just have to be clever about it. Mesmeric Orb, Ashnod's Altar, and Extractor Demon are fantastic with Sidisi - in my last game I played with the deck, I managed to own 76 zombie tokens, and milled the opponent when he was foolish enough to play Wrath of God with Extractor Demon on the board.

Check it out here :) I apologize that the deck description isn't good, haha! I need to update that.
