Does the new card -> Resourceful Defense with Athreos, Shroud-Veiled and 2 other creatures with destroy another creature on etb go infinite?

Asked by Kret 1 year ago

Let's suppose I have Athreos, Shroud-Veiled, creature A that has 'destroy a creature on etb' with a coin counter and Resourceful Defense on the battlefield, and I play another creature B that has 'destroy a creature on etb'.
Can I stack triggers so that:
1. Creature A with the coin counter will die on etb of creature B
2. I'll move the coin counter from A to B
3. Bring creature A back with the Athreos, Shroud-Veiled trigger
4. Target creature B with creature A etb 'destroy another target creature'
5. Move counter again. Rinse and repeat

Can I move the counter this way? Does that work the way I think?

Examples of combos I have in mind:
Fell Stinger + Sidisi, Undead Vizier for infinite tutor and draw on exploit
Plaguecrafter + Demon's Disciple for infinite etb, ltb and discard
Noxious Gearhulk + Cavalier of Dawn for infinite etb, ltb, lifegain and tokens

Yes, that works. As long as you are changing the game state you can repeat this loop. There are decisions that can be made to end the loop, so this is not one of the "true infinites" like 3 o-rings on an empty board or blood/bond with an opposing Platinum Angel that will end the game in a draw though.
