Borborygmos'
Asked by Kaion-dono 9 years ago
So I have Borborygmos Enraged and the original Borborygmos both of the field. And I was wondering if they can both be on the field?

While they are the same Cyclops in everything except the name, P/T and card effect, the name is what matters, so yes, you may.

Note that two Planeswalkers with the same name cannot exist on your battlefield at the same time (e.g. Jace Beleren and Jace, Architect of Thought, since they both have the type Planeswalker - Jace)
This does not apply to legendary creatures, however, and you could have both versions of Borborygmos, Niv-Mizzet, Teysa, Isperia or Rakdos on the field without breaking any rules. Neither is there a rule that forbids you from fielding a legendary creature and its Planeswalker counterpart, like Nicol Bolas/Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, Karn, Silver Golem/Karn Liberated, Xenagos, God of Revels/Xenagos, the Reveler or any of the new flip-walkers from Magic Origins.

Yes - the Legendary rule applies for two permanents with the same English name, not for lore-wise identical characters.
