Divest and Duress cost but are possibly too specific to be useful. Distress gets everything but costs . In your opinion, which is the most useful, and would you run it in the main deck or sideboard?

It depends on the deck your using and on your metta

Yes I have to agree it depends in both of those, personally I'm a fan of Duress if you see a lot of combo or control, if there are a ton of creature decks or artifact decks then Divest is better.

In Pauper... hmmm....

If I were going blind into a random meta game and absolutely had to have hand disruption -

I would split like this.

2x Duress 3x Distress

And Funeral Charm in the side.

Well, you have several more choices - Ostracize, Wrench Mind, Raven's Crime, . Personally, for budget costs, I would go for a mix of 3 duress and 2 distress, as a mono black deck will rarely have a problem with creatures.

It's meta dependent of course, but I've always favored 4x Wrench Mind Main Deck (and 4x Chittering Rats) with 4x Duress Sideboard. As Boza says mono black rarely has a problem with creatures. That diminishes the need for something like Divest. I also run Pestilence and Tendrils of Corruption, so I want to keep making my land drops later in the game, or else I would probably run 2x Raven's Crime
