How Far in Advance Did the Writers Plan this Twist?

When Oko first appeared in Throne of Eldraine, his home plane was not revealed, likely because the writers had not yet determined from what plane he originated, but the story of Lorwyn Eclipsed revealed that Lorwyn/Shadowmoor is his home plane, so I wonder how far in advance the writers planned that twist.
If the writers had planned that from his introduction, they likely would have mentioned that, but, since there was no indication that he was from Lorwyn, prior to this set, so I shall presume that the writers decided that plot point at some time between Oko's introduction and now.
What does everyone else say, about this? How far in advance did the writers plan this twist? I am interested to hear your thoughts, on this matter.

There's like 157 faeries in magic, out of which less than 10% is not from Eldraine or Lorwyn. There's a few from Ravnica and less from Dominaria, so if you go by the numbers, if Eldraine wasn't Oko's home plane, Lorwyn had a 80+ % chance of being so.
How is it a "twist" and a "plot point" though?
RiotRunner789 sorry but what are you saying? The original Lorwyn block is famous for having the first planeswalkers. The original "Lorwyn five" are Ajani Goldmane, Jace Beleren, Liliana Vess, Chandra Nalaar and Garruk Wildspeaker.

I am aware of the original 5 but my comment, "story wise" is still accurate. The planeswalkers in Lorwyn were simply placed in the set because there was room. They had nothing to do with the story and were not mentioned in the books. It wasn't until Shards of Alara that they actually came into the lore.

I thought Lorwyn was "sparkblind" (i.e., unaware of the existence of planeswalkers). I mean, it's simple enough to retcon, but still...

Just want to say, we still don't know Garruk's home plane. Oko's was a given in my opinion, but Garruk's, if done right, could be an actual twist in the story. Maybe a plane that doesn't make sense for him, or one we haven't been to yet.

hyalopterouslemur I don't remember if it was an off hand remark during lorwyn or if it was during the Nissa part in Origins, but I recall lorwyn being described as a popular respite for walkers prior to the events of shadowmoor. I don't believe there are any other lorwyn native walkers but it's certainly not without them.

His art doesn't quite match Lorwyn/Shadowmoore. So, they probably didn't have that baked in when he was created.
It was probably decided to move him there since the original blocks, story wise, didn't have planeswalkers.
