So I've been fine tuning my goblin deck over the last few days. After having pretty much been settled on what i wanted in it I noticed the price that the deck would cost.

$178.81 low, $225.22 low, $701.39 high

The majority of the cost is in the shock lands and the cavern of souls (~$120 in all). But seriously wtf. xD

Which lead me to the thought, whats the highest cost deck out there that's competitive?

What have you guys seen/created?

My standard deck is only around 600/700 (american explosives) but I've seen decks 10 times that amount, though not standard.

In standard Aristocrats was expensive with the shocks, Boros Reckoner at 30 and the Falkenrath Aristocrat

My EDH deck is $3000 (primarily because of the land base).

Well my Super jace the wallet sculptor example deck is a decent chunk of change.

I have a friend who owns all of the Power Nine, and plays them with abandon. I cringe every-time I see her Black Lotus s hit the table without a sleeve, but hey, her cards she can do what she wants with them. I'm going to say in the $10-50,000s.

My Jund midrange tops out just above $700 midrange. However, I have seen modern and legacy builds go 4 figures without even blinking. Magic is not a game for those with shallow pockets when you are trying to be competitive.

My boros human deck on the high end according to TCGPlayer is about 500-600 bucks. I've seen some decks on here that cost several thousand, but those are mainly legacy decks.

I've seen Vintage MUD in real life (upwards of $5k+), Dredge (no power, but the Bazaar of Baghdad s drive up the cost), and Legacy Miracles with a playset of foil Jace, the Mind Sculptor .

My goblin deck is worth about $1~2k with no proxies.

My current standard deck is around 300-500 but I have a 2000 dollar EDH deck. Also highly competitive Legacy decks can round out to 2000-5000 due to many copies of high price cards.

@DukeNicky: LOL I hated playing against that! I was sitting there with my garbage precon-level deck and he busts out two Mox Jet ? I just shook my head at what they did for a "final boss."

I remember one match I played against him and he managed a turn 2 Inferno Titan only because he dropped 4 of those stupid Mox cards T1 and Tutored another and of course his land for the round. I called complete bullshit there lol

Imperial Walkers uses all the "independently useful" planeswalkers. It's pretty pricey.

Probably my friend's Legacy Dredge deck, A set of LEDs is about 400 by themselves. Other than that I've seen some pretty pimped out standard decks in side-events at big tournies -- don't really see the point, but whatever.

I don't know the cost of the deck but a few weeks ago I saw a guy at a local FNM that was running an American control with playsets of Sphinx's Revelation , Boros Reckoner , and the related shock lands and the WHOLE DECK was foil. I'm guessing that it was pretty pricy.
