After piloting a legacy Death and Taxes (Death and Taxes), I liked the deck, but I wanted a more aggro-like approach without losing the control. So, after some internet browsing, I found the Maverick archetype. It looks cool so here's my shot at one.

Second Question: Instead of Rock, should I stay with utility lands and put in the punishing fire combo with Grove of the Burnwillows and Punishing Fire as well as the Dark Depths combo? If so, what would you take out to fit it in?
Third Question: Should I run AEther Vial or remove it for something else? I find that it helps early game, but as a late game draw, it doesn't fair very well at all.
Thanks for the comment! I think punishing maverick is good, but to make room for it to fit what do you think I should take out? I am thinking AEther Vials and Thalia, Guardian of Thrabens.

I've been testing a maverick/D&T junk deck and have done pretty well in testing it so far. I do miss the wasteland package but some matchups are just amazing now. Here is my list

Your list looks pretty cool. I will take your list into account as I go into more messing around to see what works. I must ask though, why Chains of Mephistopheles?

Treasure Cruise, Brainstorm, Ponder. You know, blue. If you land it and they don't have enchantment hate in the main you win g1 99% of the time. Also keeps combo decks from going off like Griselbrand and elves. Add in Containment Priest and baby, you got yourself a stew!

Ah I gotcha, cool! Thanks for the help and the comments! Chains seems like a good add to me.

Yea, it's a pretty great card. The pricetag is NOT so great

No it is not... Although I will definitely save up for it! I see it as a solid investment, that will almost certainly gain in the long run (as long as players don't just up and quit magic that is haha).

True story. I'm torn on using my puca trade points on chains or my duals...decisions suck

That they do, that they do. I would say duals, mostly because you could probably get a few more than 1 (depending on the dual). But both will hold there value over time, so its up to what you can use more now I guess.

punishing maverick is probably the best version of the deck. It's basically the only way you can keep up with treasure cruise.
