Behold the Beyond or Rune-Scarred Demon?

Commander Deck Help forum

I have two decks that place a strong emphasis on reanimating creatures from graveyards, either my own or those of my opponents, one of which has Tariel, Reckoner of Souls as the general and the other of which has Teneb, the Harvester as the general. I currently have a copy of Ring of Three Wishes in both of those decks, but I plan to replace those copies with copies of either Behold the Beyond or Rune-Scarred Demon, but I am not certain which card to put into those decks, so I seek the advice of the other members of this forum on this subject.

Putting aside the fact that both cards allow their controller to search their library, they each work toward different strategies: BtB can potentially put creatures in my graveyard, which I could then reanimate, but the demon is, itself, a creature, which I could sacrifice (as each of those two decks contains numerous sacrifice outlets) and then reanimate. In perfect honesty, I do favor the demon, but I shall consider everyone's opinion on this subject.

What does everyone else say about this? Which card should I put in those two decks?

I too would lean towards the demon for these decks. However, if either deck uses a combo Behold could grab all/most of that immediately where Demon will take more time or effort to grab multiple pieces at once. I didn't see any combos jump out at me but I only took a quick look at the lists.

DrukenReaps, thank you, for your feedback; I was already favoring the demon, but I am glad that you helped me, although I suppose that I should wait for at least one other user to provide feedback before I make my final decision on this matter.

In all honesty, go with what you prefer. Both are good, so play with what you enjoy playing. Sorry if this isn't helpful.

And in a reanimator deck, the demon will likely hit the battlefield and trigger consistently. It's the one I'd use, but go with whichever you personally prefer.

Honestly, I would look at Burning-Rune Demon then you get to pitch something ridiculous to the graveyard & tutor a reanimation spell. I enjoy something like Vilis, Broker of Blood to the graveyard & Incarnation Technique to the hand, there are way more possibilities than that ranging in power level.

Gleeock, that is an excellence suggestion! My Nekusar deck does not focus on reanimating creatures, so I shall stay with Rune-Scarred Demon for that deck, but my Tariel and Teneb decks could absolutely take advantage of Burning-Rune Demon, although I would like to have another user's opinion, before I finalize my decision on that matter.

I do forget about the opponent choice part of it as well, so that you must alter your choice to where you have to give the opponent 2 poor choices on your tutor. Also, the reveal part of it is certainly a downside. I hope your Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck is super fun (I imagine it is if you've been playing it for awhile) - usually decks that you have for the long-haul withstand the test of time for a reason :)

Gleeock, I actually missed the part of Burning-Rune Demon where an opponent chooses which card goes where, which severely limits the utility that I could gain from that creature, since both cards that I find would need to be a creature, to ensure that I could reanimate it, so I likely shall remain with Rune-Scarred Demon, in that case.
