Another tear down and rebuild.. —April 7, 2015

Turning this into a Control deck didn't work so well, so I've moved back towards the original Aggro approach with the support of numerous Tempo plays to disrupt my opponent's board state just long enough to deliver 10 Poison Counters..

Don't play a wide variety of removal just to play a wide variety of removal. I feel you should focus on the most efficient cards like Dismember , Slaughter Pact . If this is a true control deck, you should be running Cryptic Command and Snapcaster Mage in addition to Creeping Tar Pit as a finisher.

What's the idea behind Haunting Echoes?

Super Extirpate I think. Not really worth it.

Sorry for the late response..

@ GlistenerAgent: Wow, that's about $150-$200+ worth of cards I don't own.. Though you do have a good point about Cryptic Command , however it is likewise out of my budget at the moment. As for the variety of removal--I do have my reasons, though I may narrow it down later. And as far as Snapcaster Mage & Creeping Tar Pit are concerned, I feel as though they both distract from the overall Win-con: 10 Poison Counters.. Plus Snapcaster doesn't synergize well with Runechanter's Pike either..

If I were to go down the route you're suggesting, I would just abandon Infect altogether and go straight Esper or Grixis Cruel Control, and include several different Man-lands as my general Win-con. But that's not what I'm trying to do here..

So maybe this isn't totally about Control, but rather a longer, controlling Midrange type deck.. Who knows.. :P

Imagine if a Phimus Pan-esque Mono-Black Infect Control deck snuck up and had sex with an unsuspecting Dimir/Esper Control deck, then you'll have a better idea of what I'm trying to do with this..

And finally, about my sideboard.. What can I do to optimize it against the general Modern meta?(If possible..)

I can certainly understand that your plan is different. I will point out that Snapcaster Mage doesn't synergize as poorly with Runechanter's Pike as you think, because it only takes one power away and can actually wield the pike should you need it to. That's why I think it's worth including even if your main kill is infect.

I would use Cruel Edict or Geth's Verdict over Devour Flesh the lifegain can hurt sometimes.

@diatryma: I've considered that, but Cruel Edict is Sorcery speed and Geth's Verdict is greedier mana-wise & the life loss is rather useless for this deck.. Devour Flesh on the otherhand, is hilarious to use because the opponent's lifetotal is completely irrelevant to me in all match-ups except Melria Pod--because this is an Infect deck afterall.. Thanks anyway though.. And don't forget to +1/upvote! :)
