Adding Priests to the city? —June 23, 2016

After talking to a lot of people at my FLGS, we're considering expanding the "story" of the Paranoid City of Walls to include "priests" (i.e. other Non-Wall Creatures) but only one of each color. I don't want to take the theme too far off course though, which is why they are all in the Maybeboard.

As had been suggested before, Vent Sentinel does add another potential wincon to the deck. Perimeter Captain adds life gain which works with a few of the walls (most notably Wall of Limbs). Axebane Guardian works with Overgrown Battlement to help with Helix Pinnacle. Then a potential Colorless Priest... Basalt Golem in place of Warden of the Wall because Basalt at least turns things into walls (which is more thematic). Doorkeeper fills the blue spot and adds more mill... and watches the front gates of the city. Lastly, King Macar, the Gold-Cursed would be the mad king of the city... and then (despite the lack of sorceries and instants) gives a story reason to potentially include Patriarch's Bidding. Lastly, Akroma's Memorial which is just good.

I think overall, the "priests" make an interesting Sideboard for the deck. I'd love to hear more suggestions.

Is there room in the deck for Wakestone Gargoyle, Flamewright and/or Vent Sentinel? They might grant some additional win conditions/utility to the list.

They've been suggested by friends but I wanted to keep it to walls as much as I could. Doran is only in cause he's a "tower" amongst the walls and Warden of the Wall (though somewhat a maybe) because of Walls. Phenax kind of became a necessity even though he's not a Wall. They are good suggestions though.

I just wish there was a 5 color Legendary Wall to include in this.

YuriBittencourt There are definitely problems with board wipes and a lack of getting creatures back. I feel overall this deck is better at handling big creatures and is also not overwhelmingly affected by Control or taxes. There is an occassional issue against token swarms and excessive ramp. Mostly this has worked in multiplayer games where even when people think I could be an issue, they freak out more about what other players are doing and stop being so concerned by the walls. The setups are so long that people think they have more time than they really do and then I surprise them. It actually has about the same win percentage as some of my more optimized decks. Patriarch's Bidding does sound great as a maybe. This is really just a slow, fun, stupid deck. We've started playing Usurper more at my FLGS so i'm hoping to play it with the King role.
