Adding Bob, Can It Work? —Sept. 9, 2015

I'm trying Bob in my Abzan list for a time, it seems like it could work, but I need more testing to be sure. Yes the mana base is painful, but with smart fetches I believe it can be done. Basically tried to lower the overall curve. Changes:

Main Board

  • -2 Tasigur, the Golden Fang, -2 Loxodon Smiter // +4 Dark Confidant - Cut most of the high cost cards for Bob. I decided to keep Rhino because it's such a powerful threat and even if I flip it with Bob, the lifegain helps minimize the damage a lot

  • -1 Treetop Village // +1 Scavenging Ooze - More fragile creatures are more likely to be in the graveyard and the lifegain will help minimize damage. Lowering the overall curve allows a land cut.

Put 3 Creakwood Liege in there, and put 1-3 Kitchen Finks in there.

Thank you for the suggestions! As sweet at the Liege is, he's too fragile and dies to the most played removal. Lightning Bolt. I have considered Kitchen Finks many times, and though they help with the painful mana base, I still feel like Loxodon Smiter is a stronger, and more punishing threat. Especially with the resurgence of Jund.
