i really like the idea. i've always wanted to make a deck with bolas and griselbrand in them lol, so +1

i would suggest adding Blood Crypt just so you can fetch it with farseek if you need to. i also suggest more removal since it's easy to get overwhelmed with aggro, and it's only because i think r/b has access to the most powerful cards in standard right now, but i think Rakdos's Return deserves a spot on ALL decks that have r/b in them lol

Your absolutely right r3mu5, I find myself wanting to farseek a red source and I don't have even one Blood Crypt yet, which il be picking up on my next day off. Thx for the comment and +1.

i like the direction this is going lol. you should consider Chandra, the Firebrand instead of vraska; chandra can fork kill spells, and any of the ramp too. just a thought.

chandra doesnt have a built in way of dealing with major threats on her own, vraska's -3 can destroy target nonland perm. It's some form of board control the moment I cast vraska, whereas with chandra, at best i could copy a kill spell etc. but thats relying on 2 cards to combo off whereas vraska is just herself. Chandra also has ping for 1, which in most cases is absolute zero, vraska's +1 leaves her open but at a price, anything that touches her will die, which is also practically no board control unless attacked, pretty defensive. But out of the two I'd have to stick with vraska, plus the mana base is reliant on a mix of heavy black and heavy green, with splashes of blue and red, although blue has been edging its way in lately so at this point its more of a B/U/G build with a splash of red.

I'm actually using Chandra, the Firebrand in another deck I have here on TappedOut, it's The Mizzet Defenders

I actually picked up 1 Rakdos's Return but then realised if I run into it when I cast Unexpected Results I would be hosed, since I dont have to pay the mana cost, I have to name zero for 'x'.

Basically any 'x' in the cost card;

Rakdos's Return

Entreat the Angels

Sphinx's Revelation

Bonfire of the Damned

are all hosed when you cast it via Unexpected Results .

However, thats only if I hit it with unexpected results, I could very easily hard cast it from my hand and it would work just fine, is it worth it to add a card that I kno before hand will clash if hit with unexpected, or is that a fair trade considering what the card is and does, i suppose i'd need to pick a possible cut from the mainboard before i get ahead of myself.

But then again, the whole point of the deck is to combo out with the Unexpected Results and adding 'x' cost spells will only prevent that from happening, effectively wasting a turn, if not costing me the game.

Unexpected results can be exceptional, but can be ENFURIATING! I managed to cast the same card 6 times in one single game! Kept on hitting lands. I feel I have a similar ish deck though The Unexpected Deck!! which is more ramp based. Please check the deck. I don't know what to do about the sideboard though, any advice? Have you thought about Garruk, Primal Hunter ?

@Dickified I would have also accepted 'bonerfied' haha, anyways, Thnx for the comment, I have been having fun playing around with this unexpected results brew and I'm starting to understand what can and what won't work, as I mentioned in a previous post, cards with 'x' in the cost are completely wasted if popped with Unexpected Results , but there are plenty of cards that do work, like a turn 3 bolas.

Another type of card that wouldn't work out great would be enchantment aura's, they need a creature on the field or else they're a waste, another downside to this build would be having too many high cmc cards in the opening hand, which can be the case for a lot of decks but this one in particular because every big drop not in the library is a card u can't hit with unexpected.

The only other major downside to this decks mechanics would be having a vraska or bolas resolved and in play, and then casting unexpected and finding a duplicate of the planeswalkers which I guess u could choose to not cast it, because it says u may, but it really comes down to individual games and what the current board state is.

I do really like the deck, it just seems to go big and not super reactive to your opponent. How does it fare against the fast aggro decks? (Also +1 from me :) )

@Grimm0808 if u mean counterspells, I would have the same issues I've had with cards with 'x' in their cost, if I run into it with unexpected there's nothing I can use it for, but with spot removal like Abrupt Decay and Dreadbore and even Devour Flesh il almost always be able to use it.

Also Grimm0808 the spells listed by behgz are all reactionary if hard cast which stops aggro in its little booties.

One card I would love to fit in is Barter in Blood .

Slight nombo surely, as you yourself have creatures that can come out before you play unexpected results?

April 1, 2013 6:50 p.m.

Behgz says... #19

That's true, I do have my own creatures that would be affected by the barter.

This deck is a nightmare for anyone trying to play midrange. How does it fair against aggro decks? Seems like if you dont draw a perfect hand they migh5 be able to out race your control. Solid deck though. +1 from me.

It can remove a lot of early threats, but Naya blitz is Naya blitz so..

So, this is more of a ramp style deck than an actual control deck if I'm "reading between the lines" correctly.

I have a 5 color build which I have named "5 color ramp" but doesn't use Unexpected Results as I only have 2 of at the moment. Once i get the full playset, I'll be rebuilding mine.

Why no Omniscience as a 1 of?
