Most of the cards exist to try to pull the High Alert/Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive combo. Kinjalli's caller makes pulling out Looming Altisaur, the heavy hitter, easier. If possible, I usually wait to cast High Alert and Tetsuko until I can cast them together as that gives the opponent less time to react (unless they know the deck). This deck runs optimally on 5 lands, so any additional lands scryed or surveiled can be jettisoned.
