When Twisted Sewer-Witch enters the battlefield, create a 1/1 black Rat creature token with "This creature can't block." Then for each Rat you control, create a Wicked Role token attached to that Rat. (Cards can only have one Role attached to it at a time. If there is already a Role attached to it, put that one into the graveyard before attaching this one. Enchanted creature gets +1/+1. When this Aura is put into a graveyard, each opponent loses 1 life.)

I am finding that I would prefer 2x Twisted Sewer-Witch for later game over the 2x Tangled Colony, so that swap may happen soon.

I know you are going more budget with this but figured I could suggest a few Rats or cards that help a chosen creature type: Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, Lord Skitter, Sewer King, Ratcatcher, Karumonix, the Rat King, Twisted Sewer-Witch, Skemfar Shadowsage, Kindred Dominance, Haunting Voyage, Crippling Fear, Aphetto Dredging.

So, my prerelease went pretty similar to yours. I also played Boros aggro and placed third out of 17. I also found Hopeful Vigil to be nice, though I didn't get the land. I was more on a Knights and rats plan with Intangible Virtue, Ratcatcher Trainee, and Imodane's Recruiter. Twisted Fealty did some work as well and I really like the role tokens.
My son opened 4 Voracious Vermin, Twisted Sewer-Witch, and Lord Skitter, Sewer King. So his deck kinda built itself. The only real decision with his pool was what color to splash 7 cards of because black was pretty deep but not quite deep enough to go mono.
