Thicket Basilisk
Creature — Basilisk
Whenever Thicket Basilisk blocks or becomes blocked by a non-Wall creature, destroy that creature at end of combat.

Even with deathtouch you can only kill one guy per power because you need to do a point of damage to each. Put Lure or any of the other cards that do the same thing on a guy with indestructible or regeneration instead. Thicket Basilisk can kill everything without damage, as can Basalt Golem.

For me it is Thicket Basilisk . It was one of my very first cards and I always had pet Iguanas since I love them so much. I´m a sucker for "Fun-and-cool-art">"Strong stuff" anyway so I took my little 6-legged Iguana friend in every deck I currently played at the time and I do this to this day, I always bring that 1x Basilisk I got all those years ago with me when playing. Also, green back in the old days was always go big or go wide and he was just something so different (along with Cockatrice) to have this awesome mechanic that is a constant threat. Yes, with deathtouch being a quite standard keyword nowadays it isn´t special at all, for me it was just SO cool back in the day! So yeah, he has obviously a special place in my heart to this day!

you might want Dolmen Gate or runetail, kitsune ascendant to prevent combat damage to your creatures. Asceticism will protect your guys as well.
Why did you skip the original Lure combo, Thicket Basilisk +100 style points for that.

My first deck included two each of Thicket Basilisk, Cockatrice, and Kjeldoran Frostbeast.

colton815: Have you ever considered why any Voltron Commander deck depends on the Commander having Hexproof or similar levels of protection? And why Auras are the single most recurrable card in the game?
Auramancer had to be printed at Common to be even remotely useful. Retether and Replenish, while Rare, affect all Enchantments.
Because you lose them too fast when you depend on them without additional protections. Equipment doesn't have that vulnerability.
The 241 problem has been a known thing since the first time someone cast Terror on a Thicket Basilisk with Lure attached to it. Back in Alpha.

SaintedPlacebo: That's a nice way of putting it, but Flying is a 'hard' Evasion ability, not a 'soft' one like First/Double Strike or Trample, and has had Deathtouch (or rather, it's prototype) since Alpha with Thicket Basilisk.
