Change the text of target spell or permanent by replacing all instances of one basic land type with another. (For example, you may change "swampwalk" to "plainswalk." This effect lasts indefinitely.)

Yesterday: No, Resolute Rejection and Patriar's Humiliation operate in the ability adding/removing layer. They don't change copiable values. Body Double-ing a Corrupted Shapeshifter who's been hit by one of those things will get you a normal Corrupted Shapeshifter with all its abilities. And if you were to reanimate that Shapeshifter, you would still choose P/T as it enters because the copiable values layer is the very first one, so the effect would be applied before the ability gets taken away in the ability adding/removing layer.
For the layer system, first you start with what's printed on the physical object, then apply other continuous effects in this specific order:
-
Rules and effects that modify copiable values
-
Control-changing effects
-
Text-changing effects (e.g. Magical Hack and friends)
-
Type-changing effects (including supertypes and subtypes)
-
Color-changing effects
-
Ability-adding/removing effects (including keyword counters and "can't have [ability]" effects)
-
P/T-changing effects
Layers 1 and 7 also have some sub-layers where certain more specific types of effects are applied in a particular order within those layers but those details aren't important here.
The key thing to understand is that a copy effect only brings over the actual printed characteristics of the original plus anything that is applying to the original in Layer 1. No other effects applying to the original will get copied.

This deck is ridiculous. I was searching for discussions around Magical Hack, stumbled upon this deck and am now questioning my entire philosophy around deck building. Here I thought I was going out on a limb building a deck around color manipulation with:
Color Fight Party
Commander / EDH
SCORE: 2 | 160 VIEWS | IN 1 FOLDER
and I find this beast. Any other mechanics that change the game that you've come across that are similar to this?

@Rhadamanthus Artificial Evolution changes the creatures type specifically by changes the text (and changes all instances, not just the type line), so it's a text changing effect like Magical Hack. This does mean it gets applied in layer 3 before other type changing effects, regardless of time stamps and dependancies.

Yes, Overload will be copied. The important part of 706.2 for your question is where it says the copiable values for an object on the stack include "choices made when casting or activating it", and that includes the choice of whether to pay an alternate or additional cost (this is why Kicker is also copied). When the rule says that text-changing effects aren't copied over it's talking about things like Magical Hack , etc.

A Sliver Deck With No Slivers?!!

Building out my deck and the walk abilities (swampwalk, islandwalk, etc) were very nice, if you are leaning into those might want to think about adding Magical Hack or Whim of Volrath . That way no matter what deck your friends are playing, you should be able to swing in unopposed.

Vedalken Plotter is good.
Thada Adel, Acquisitor is amazing ramp for a blue deck.
Do a search for cards with that say "change text". I remember Magical Hack and Trait Doctoring but there are others.

I absolutely love the concept - I've always wanted to do something with Magical Hack effects, and this seems really awesome. The winning combo seems slightly labored though, are there no faster ways to win with less pieces?
