Would Ensoul Artifact and Supplant Form work in terms of populating artifacts such as Darksteel Citadel and Stoneforged Blade?
Asked by Smoigh 8 years ago
Hello folks. I was playing an interesting game one day when my opponent used Supplant Form, which creates a token copy of a target creature and returns that creature to its owner's hand, after I had played Ensoul Artifact on my Darksteel Citadel, making it a 5/5 indestructible creature in addition to still being a land. Since Supplant Form copies the target, would the land keep the status of a creature, or would it become a normal land token? As for Stoneforged Blade, if you enchant it with Ensoul Artifact, are you able to populate the artifact equipment creature?

Note that animated equipment cannot be equipped to any creature and will become unequipped if already equipped when animated.

Ensoul Artifact, Supplant Form, Darksteel Citadel, Nahiri, the Lithomancer
Copying creatures only copies everything printed on the card itself. It doesn't copy any outside changes like animation, counters, or +x/+x buffs (eg Giant Growth). The copied Darksteel Citadel will come into play as a non-creature indestructible artifact land.
Yes you can populate a creature token with say Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. The token artifact will also be a creature thanks to Ensoul Artifact, making it a valid choice to populate.
