Odric, Lunarch Marshal and Sundial the Infinite interaction giving permanent effects?

Asked by bcvader 6 years ago

If you have Odric, Lunarch Marshal out with a create that has indestructible, like Oketra the True, you go to combat, let Odrics trigger resolve then use Sundial of the Infinite to end the turn and skip to the clean up phase, does Sundial skip end of turn abilities? I known it does for end step but does it for end of turn?ie. Would the indestructible stay and not be removed?

Unfortunately no. The key difference is between an ability that lasts "until end of turn" like that of Odric, Lunarch Marshal, and one that happens "at end of turn" (like Final Fortune.) The reminder text on Sundial of the Infinite specifically says that '"this turn and "until end of turn" effects end,' as they're simply waiting until the turn ends, and using the Sundial speeds that up. The Sundial is effective with cards that mention the "end step" specifically, such as Ball Lightning, since using it skips the end step.

"This turn" and "until end of turn" effects aren't actually waiting for the end of the turn, their waiting for the cleanup step. They're still removed, as "End the Turn" doesn't actually end the turn, it skips strait to the cleanup step, but the answer is the same, no, you don't keep the boosts, because they ending the turn still removes them.

In the future, please link all cards in your question. It makes it much easier for us to understand what's going on if we can see the cards involved. You can link cards by using double square brackets:
