Dimir Doppelganger + Pin to Earth

Asked by Ixnay 8 years ago

Hi, so if i have Dimir Doppelganger and it got an entchantment from the opponent (e.g. Pin to the Earth) on it and i use the ability from Dimir Doppelganger and copy a creature from a graveyard, will the new copied creature also have the enchantment or not?

Yes.

The Dimir Doppelganger doesn't leave the battlefield when it copies the exiled card, so there is no reason for the enchantment to "fall off" unless you copy a creature with protection from the colour of the enchantment (blue in this case)

In most cases yes the copy will still have the enchantment on it. That is to say actually doing the copying does not remove the enchantment. If you copy something with protection from some aspect of the aura, such as Polis Crusher or Oversoul of Dusk, then that will cause it to fall off. Such as Polis Crusher or Oversoul of Dusk.

Ok thank you. Another question comes to mind. When Dimir Doppelganger already copied a creature and then the oppenent plays Void Snare will the card i put in my hand have the copied creature's ability's (and mana cost) plus the ability from Dimir Doppelganger?

Also would the same logic (already copied a creature, put on hand again) apply to Lazav, Dimir Mastermind? So that the mana cost to cast it again would again be that from the copied creature?

Once a copy of a permanent leaves the battlefield it is no longer a copy of that permanent. It reverts back to its printed characteristics.

Also note another way to get rid of the enchantment is to copy a God card (i.e. Thassa, God of the Sea). If your devotion to the specified color(s) is less than required, it will cease to be a creature and thus be an illegal target for Pin to the Earth to be enchanting, also making it fall off.
