Can I immediately use aquired mana from my pool?

Asked by PJ_nx01 8 years ago

Say I only have a Crypt Ghast and 4 Swamps on the BF, I want to throw down a Lord of the Void at 7 mana. Are the 4 more mana from tapping the Swamps immediately available from Ghast's ability to help pay for the Lord? I feel like it would be but I'm usually always wrong. Thanks.

Yes.

Crypt Ghast has a triggered mana ability. Remember that mana abilities resolve immediately and do not use the stack.

Remember also that you can float mana without casting a spell. You don't have to wait until the end of the casting process to activate mana abilities, so you're welcome to float mana in order to take advantage of nonmana abilities prior to beginning the casting process.

Yes, when you activate the mana ability of a swamp (including Swamp, Underground Sea, Godless Shrine, Smoldering Marsh, and any other land with the type "swamp") Crypt Ghast triggers and adds to your mana pool. Crypt Ghast's trigger is a mana ability so it resolves immediately and the mana is in your mana pool for use.

Yes, you can use the mana immediatly. Mana created by abilities like Crypt Ghast's isn't different to mana produced by lands, since basic lands actually just have the ability T: add 1 mana of whatever colour to your mana pool, it's just not written on the card.
