Baloth. Chalice was only marginally playable when Cruise Delver was the best deck.

skeletonkey8 Yeah, that's the point. Chalice isn't even marginally playable now.

Agree, chalice doesn't really hose anything, and even in matchup a where it's good, I'd rather play something else. Sideboard card aren't meant to be average across many match ups: those are your main deck cards.

What about it shutting down burn, affinity, living end, zoo, and it still hurts delver alot?

Living End is already a good matchup, sweepers are better against Zoo, you should already have sideboard slots for Affinity, and Burn loses to lifegain.

It kinda sorta does something against all of those decks, but not as well as haymakers you could be playing.

Here's my reasoning: I wouldn't want Chalice over any card in any sideboard that I've ever played. The other cards are just much more consistent and powerful.

Ok thank you, im going to rephrase my question, how do you beat targeted discard in a deck not playing white?

I just think there are a lot of cards that hose (some of) those decks better though. Baloth is also great in the burn matchup, affinity can win without 0s and 1s, and although it is good, I'd rather have shatterstorm/corrosion, and delver has kolaghan's. It's not a good idea to shut off your only removal spell against zoo (bolt) and if it's big zoo you aren't even harming them that much. Living end isn't really a deck, but if it's in your meta a lot, then I'd consider chalice.

I'm not sure you understand how the deck works if you're having trouble beating discard spells. It's pretty straightforward.

What do you mean by "decks not playing white"? What do they have against discard that other colors don't?

If you take a peek at my deck im playing B/U/G/R Scapeshift, so im not playing white. A serious weakness of my deck is targeted discard.

Targeted discard is played alot by B/G/x, tokens, and grixis control.

Now my normal go to in a situation like this is to play Leyline of Sanctity, but i don't feel it would work in this deck, do you have any ideas for good Sideboard cards to deal well again targeted discard?

December 9, 2015 9:53 p.m.

It would appear that you didn't understand what I was saying.

Again, I am confident that you have no idea what you're doing if you can't beat discard spells. Leyline of Sanctity should never be in a Scapeshift deck.

i agree Leyline of Sanctity is bad in Scapeshift.

"Again, I am confident that you have no idea what you're doing if you can't beat discard spells."

Please offer some advice then?

Get to seven lands at any cost, and maximize your ability to rip Scapeshift. The BtL version is supposed to be even better against discard spells because you have 7 cards that win the game off the top.

Scapeshift is a slow deck, but it's a one card combo and you have many ways to find it. also, discard decks don't even get hosed by chalice anyway: their only one drops are discard which will just take chalice if it's an issue or ignore it and shut off your best way to kill Bob.

Well, Chalice is a good card in Amulet Bloom in the sideboard as a one of. But, well, considering the amount of mana that deck can generate, it makes sense.

Um, also, if you have a spare chalice sitting around, I kinda want to trade for one.

ok thank you evreyone for helping me out. after getting rolled by a 8 rank deck a number of times i thought that Chalice of the Void would be a good option, i see what your saying though, discard on average is not a big problem for me and to counter act a lots of discard i should just add more draw to compensate, as i will win eventually.

sorry kyuuri117 i dont have any Chalice of the Void's
