what does each one mean? and how is it assigned?

Standard are basically what type 2 format is.

It is equivalent to the last 2 years worth of cards.

Which means M11, Zendikar, Alara block, and M10 are all considered Standard at this moment. But come Oct/Nov (?) time, when the first of the new block gets released, then it will be that + M11 + Zendikar block. So M10 exclusive cards and cards not released in the current sets will move into Extended.

Extended is now currently 4 years worth.

Legacy is involving every card set released for torney play, excluding Unglued. :)

Each of these are assigned automatically basically on the age of the card. Thus older cards used in a deck will automatically shift the deck from Standard to Extended to Legacy.

If your wanting to build a deck that will be FNM legal you just need to be careful when your building decks to make sure your not using cards from older sets to avoid getting extended or legacy tagged. :)

This be helpful for ya, or am I batting for the wrong team? :)

great to know. but what about "unformat", is that when you have a card from the unglued set? because one of my decks had a card from the unglued set, once i took it off it became legacy

Aye, a card from the Unglued set or from the Community set. (See Concept Cards for more info I think).

This doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful in what you build, (by all means let rip with ideas) ya just use the measurement as a way to gauge what your deck is viable for playing in what format.

If it's for casual gaming, then house rules me thinks :)

Just a clarification- Legacy is not EVERY card released for tourney play, there is an extensive ban list, i.e. Black Lotus , etc. VINTAGE is the format that allows these cards, albeit in limited numbers.

oh, for the days when standard was Time Spiral block, Lor/Shad block, Ice Age, 9, and X. SO MANY CARDS. extended then wasn't shabby either.

unformat is Unglued and/or Unhinged and/or concept cards(?).

Everything in standard is, I believe, in extended (since they banned Sword of the Meek instead of Thopter Foundry ). Most of the card in extended are in legacy, and everything in legacy is in vintage in some form or another (differences in restricted lists). The only cards banned in legacy are: un-sets, ante cards (Contract from Below ), and a few manipulation cards (Chaos Orb ). Everything else, i think, is either legal or restricted (one per deck/board). Vintage, with moxen, Dream Halls , Necropotence , things like that, is a much faster and more broken (and more expensive) format than legacy, which you can reasonably get into with elfball or merfolk or something like that.

Everytime that I attempt to delete a deck and submit, it gives me a site error. The same thing happens when trying to save a new deck. Would anyone know how to help with this?

I tried again and it is still giving me problems. I took a screenshot of an error it gives me if I have the prototype box checked.

Are you double clicking the submit button?

No. I only click it once. If I uncheck the prototype box and submit, it gives me a site error.
