Help with Yisan, and getting back into Magic

Commander Deck Help forum

Hey, guys, it's been a very long while for me since I've played Magic at all, let alone EDH. I'm trying to get back into the game, and I actually sold my entire collection in order to pass some financial troubles. Now that I am back on my feet, I am ready to play, and I have decided that I really want to pick up where I left off with my Yisan, the Wanderer Bard Tier 1 EDH Found here. The only problem is that I've been out of the game for about 5 or 6 months, so I SEVERELY need help understanding what edits I should make, and why. If anybody has ANY suggestions, I'd really appreciate it a lot, especially because I am not in the mentality of the game the same way I used to be a few months ago.

I used to play a fantastic Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed EDH Found herethat was a ton of fun, and I can say with confidence that I am favourable to EDH, so if I'm gonna work to get back into this game, I think that having a long term goal for an EDH deck can really help motivate me to keep playing again.

That being said; what significant changes have happened in magic since I've been gone? My last set was Kaladesh, thought I barely got familiar with the set, so I wanna say that my last set was actually Eldritch Moon.

If you want, heres another look at My modern burn deck, which is pretty self explanatory, but I guess I could use help with that deck too.

I really do need to know how the meta of EDH has changed, and I'm interested as to how and why certain generals have been bumped down a few tiers, like Skullbriar, the Walking Grave or Kaalia of the Vast.

How has EDH changed in general? and has it been for better or worse?

Thanks a bunch, and please +1 and or make some suggestions, I really need the help!

well EDH has shifted towards a very multicolored format, with atraxa and bray running around everywhere. the plethora of removal that has appeared is the main reason the two generals you mentioned have shifted down. in terms of your yisan deck, if you are running Umbral Mantle, you should run Paradox Engine and Selvala, Heart of the Wilds. with those cards and yisan in play, you can play out a full chain of yisan using the infinite mana generated by selvala. Paradox Engine is just a very good commander card.
