Steel Hellkite —Oct. 17, 2016

It was pointed out to me that I was lacking a Steel Hellkite which was certainly unacceptable. Unfortunately for Mirrorwing Dragon the swap was an easy choice since I hadn't actually made sure there were enough things to target Mirrorwing Dragon with. You can be sure it will find a home in something with Rite of Replication.

I came back to Magic with KTK and I played a very casual deck with a single copy of Surrak. Let me tell you, it was not consistent whatsoever, but everytime I drew Surrak it was like winning the lottary. I knew I'd win that game! So I love the card and there is not much of a home for him. This deck though... It got me curious. It seems a whole lot of fun and Surrak fits it perfectly. I actually think this is more enjoying both to play and to play against with Surrak leading than with Maelstrom Wanderer.

And there you touch on a point I make over and over again. EDH is a format to be enjoyed. I like to play and have fun, not see someone bring out their "fun deck" (aka "my general costs one more mana than usual so I'll /probably/ take one more turn to lock the table and win the game" kind of deck) and lock everyone out before they had a chance of enjoying the game.

I am building a fairly competitive Narset, Enlightened Master deck, and I really like it, but I know it's not fun at all to play against it, so I avoid bringing it out and save it either for more competitive environments or for long EDH marathons where I just keep losing so I want to be a lot more threatening lol. I'd much rather play something that I can enjoy and don't turn the whole table against me than, win every time and watch everyone else have a bad time, so I tend to build my decks with that in mind, favouring fun most of all.

GS10 Thank you. I'm going to update this list since I've added some new dragons and a few support cards. What I'd really like to do is put up a play video of this deck because while I wouldn't call it mean it's a good example of what happens when everything just clicks and you understand your deck inside and out. I will definitely comment you in when I make the video so you can see this in action. It really does some unexpected things.

Maelstrom Wanderer deck Rite of Replicationing Omnath, Locus of Rage kind of things? lol

Sure! I love watching cool synergies playout, that's really the whole point of the format for me, so I'm really interested to see that happen ;)
