HA! Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist again.

I know there's an argument out there for the Fires, but it's just not good enough if we have no way to Flashback it.

i say we need to get the removal where we can i think we should go for the Fires of UndeathMTG Card: Fires of Undeath even with out the ability to flash it back it has the possibility of taking out most of the creatures in this set. Plus hey who doesn't love a creepy looking spidery lady in a black dress?

Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist

My temptation is Executioner's HoodMTG Card: Executioner's Hood. Slap that bad larry on our Kessig CagebreakersMTG Card: Kessig Cagebreakers and we've got a party. But we still need creatures. And I don't want white ones getting too far.

Nibble the Mist. Mist Nibbles. That is my vote.

@ SupremeAlliesCommander We have 10 creatures already in the deck. We aren't exactly short on creature playables. At least not so short that we need to prioritize them over everything else. Plus a couple of our spells are actually also creatures in disguise.

Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist gets my vote. If we were going to take a red card here I'd really push for Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord. In a creature heavy deck like ours it can be a complete blowout.

I think we should take Forge DevilMTG Card: Forge Devil. It is a middle ground between creature and removal. Also, we don't have a lot of low cost creatures that we can get into the graveyard before we cast the cagebreaker. We need creatures in the graveyard for it to be good.

Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord is a really nice bomb that has synergy with the rest of the deck. If we end up keeping red we'll definitely want it.

My only problem with Forge DevilMTG Card: Forge Devil: how often are we going to have a MountainMTG Card: Mountain on turn one? It's a good card, but it won't be terribly thrilling to play it on turn seven or whenever. We could push into more red to try and increase the odds, but that seems dangerous.

Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord is preferable, IMO, simply because it's much easier for this deck to find a red source when six+ mana is available than when you've only got one or two lands.

My vote still stands with the Nibbling Mist, but the warlord is pretty much sex.

Actually, a turn seven Forge Devil has plenty of uses. Since damage doesn't fall off until the end of the turn, you can cast him post-combat to off a guy who's one damage away from lethal. There's also plenty of 1-butt creatures in this format, even lategame.

He also works well with the Elder in that he's a cheap extra body - late game you can think of him as one mana for an extra +1/+1 to the Elder's ability.

That said, I side with you. I don't think we need one-drops in our splash color, as much as they might play in to our "bodies in the yard" need.

Another Niblis is tempting, but I'm voting Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord for some late-game power. His ability to break a stalemate is pretty impressive; I had him personally turn a game around on me at the prerelease. It was painful.

Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist is a better and cheaper Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord. My vote is Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist

You know what, I'm going to change my vote.

-1 Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord,

+1 Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist

The Niblis is much faster and I think our deck is going for early beats. And we just might end up cutting red altogether at this rate anyhow.

(The Niblis is not a "better" Warlord, by the way - the Warlord's haste + 4/4 body makes a huge difference between it and the Niblis.)

Fires is the best red common in the set and unless you have a VERY low commitment, you can't go wrong with removal and it can go to the dome as well. I'd take it over warlord any day and probably nibbles and bits because removal is very hard to come by in this format.

February 3, 2012 12:48 a.m.

good arguments from theburchman as to why to choose Fires of UndeathMTG Card: Fires of Undeath. It is solid removal in a set light on it.

February 3, 2012 1:39 a.m.

Since we are so far only holding a splash of red, I would caution against taking too many low end red spells. White I love fires of undeath, it makes more sense for me that we either take the Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord (he's a fatty with a really nice ETB ability) or Nibbles, because evasion is always nice. We're green white here and we may splash red later, if need be. I think that if possible we ought to be sticking to our guns on the primary colours here.

So while Markov is the stronger card by far, Niblis is going to help us stay on-colour and give us some evasion and tapping tricks. Voting for Nibbles.

We'll get more use out of Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist than Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord most games. I vote for the Niblis.

February 3, 2012 9:14 a.m.

Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist will give us the most flexibility. It is great when it comes in on turn 3 and still has late game relevance. There's no downside to it. The only downside to Markov WarlordMTG Card: Markov Warlord and Fires of UndeathMTG Card: Fires of Undeath is that they are of the least colors. We're so solid in Green and White that I, personally, wouldn't feel comfortable picking red over a solid green or white card.

Niblis of the MistMTG Card: Niblis of the Mist gets my vote again.
