Description

I drafted RW (my favorite) and went 3-0 losing only one game and redeemed myself from my last draft. This was a strange draft with only a 6 person pod and most of the people were new or newly returning players. This led to some strange scenarios like Dryad Greenseeker staying in the pack really late and one person drafting I think every black removal spell that was opened at the table. I settled in RW early with p1p1 Banefire p1p2 Luminous Bonds and other stuff. I was wheeling essential, but not high demand creatures like Rustwing Falcon like normal. But cards like Trumpet Blast and Inspired Charge were getting immediately snatched up.So even though this was my 3rd time drafting RW, all those decks were fairly different from each other. This deck had zero of the many mass pump spells and mostly relied on an extremely low curve, combat tricks, and equipment to get the job done. There were some tough picks like pegasus corser vs Boggart Brute as well as Viashino Pyromancer vs Boggart Brute. I didn't end up taking Boggart Brute either time, but would have instantly grabbed it had it been in some of the other packs.

MATCH 1 vs RWb (2-1)

This was my drafting neighboor to my left, so I'm sure we cannibalized each other's card pool a bit. I think I was a lot more aggressive leaning than him though. Game 1 was rough and I kept a very sketchy hand with I think 5 lands and of course drew a bunch more and eventually got run over by Aethershield Artificer pumping Skyscanner turn after turn. I'm still not sure if I should have kept that hand. I was only running 16 lands, so I figured my chances of drawing some spells were pretty good, but maybe this deck should be erring on the side of low land counts.

Game 2 went much better for me.
