Pestilence and Daunting Defender

Asked by Kamosz 10 years ago

Hi,I came across this potential combo but I'm not sure if it works consistantly. What would happen if you activate Pestilence multiple times while Daunting Defender is on the board? Would the Daunting Defender prevent just the first damage done to clerics or all of it?

Thanks in advantage :)

it would prevent 1 damage every time Pestilence would do damage. Unless the damage was increased somehow, it would prevent all the damage.

Also, ask questions in "MTG Q&A" at the top from now on.

Im failing to see the combo?

My understanding would be that the Defender Trigger is placed on the stack once the Pestilence trigger resolves, Meaning literally nothing happens to your Defender.

If you are intending to set this up as an infinite board wipe im sure that there is better options.

You can add Urza's Armor to this as well to prevent all of the damage to yourself also.

Yes, that works, though you will still be dealt 1 damge. Also, look into creatures that have protection from black - Cemetery Gate and its ilk. Wall of Hope helps mitigate the damage dealt to yourself or even Guardian of the Guildpact . Stuffy Doll is very fun with it.

Thanks guys, I am intending to use it as a form of board wipe but in an extort-cleric deck. I know there are better options but these fit the theme and allow me to use the defender on other combo's as well.

Thanks for the tip about the MTG Q&A.

I think there's a Level Up guy from ZEN or WWK who does it better. Can't remember his name.
