Outlast mechanics

Asked by Not_Sure 9 years ago

Peace, probably about too answer my own question first off, but want to hear it from more than one source; if'n y'all please... The Outlast ability is affected by summoning sickness right, because it includes the tap symbol?

Second, what are some support cards for outlast, understanding it is a slow ability based on some of my experiences with it. Basically, what can speed up an Abzan tribal deck or at least increase it's consistency?Green/White/Black

Well, lets say cards from the New Phyrexia set and M14 to present. Modern has a bit more of a vast selection, and mostly because those are a majority of the cards on hand at this time.

Illusionist's Bracers, Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, Primal Vigor, Corpsejack Menace are a few cards that boost outlast.

Any activated ability with in its cost is subject to the "summoning sickness" rule. Where it can't be activated if you haven't controlled the creature since the beginning of your upkeep.

Wow, that completely derailed my thought process on the Abzan tribe temporarily; but thank y'all for the input. So if i have Primal Vigor,Corpsejack Menace, and Kalonian Hydra in play; then play for example Genesis Hydra with 5 for the X cost, would it enter as a 20/20, then swing with the hydra doubling them three more times? For 120/120 after the hydra's attack and the enchantments' abilities resolve? My math is probably skewed but, is that the idea?

The Q&A is not the place to address strategy or meta questions. Please post those in the forums.

Yes. Doubling something stacks, so if something is doubled(x2) twice, is effectively Quadrupled.
5 x2 x2 = 20.
20 x2 x2 x2 = 160.

You will have one massive blocker until the next turn when it can swing. (Assuming it doesn't have haste).
