"O-Ring effect" when sac'ing Tidehollow Sculler?

Asked by Femme_Fatale 9 years ago

We all know of the nice round-about loop-hole when removing an Oblivion Ring before first exile effect resolves.

But can the same thing be done with a Tidehollow Sculler with say ... a Bloodthrone Vampire to permanently exile a card from their hand?

Basically when Tidehollow Sculler 's first ability goes on the stack, you sac it, leaving its second ability to resolve before the first, permanently exiling the card.

Yes. It works the exact same way for the exact same reason.

From Gatherer:

6/7/2013 If Tidehollow Sculler leaves the battlefield before its first ability has resolved, its second ability will trigger. This ability will do nothing when it resolves. Then its first ability will resolve and exile the chosen card forever.

This was originally a very fun trick to pull on people with Faceless Butcher and Mesmeric Fiend .
