If I put a +1/+1 counter on Inkmoth Nexus would the counter fall off when the nexus turned back into a land?

Asked by whiplashz 14 years ago

If i had a Steel Overseer and an Inkmoth Nexus and i used the overseer's ability would the +1/+1 stay on the inkmoth after it transforms back to a land at the end of the turn? Because i think theres a land that attacks and gets stronger every turn so i think it would work? But i am honestly not sure.

The +1/+1 counters will stay on Inkmoth Nexus even after it reverts back into a land.

The man land you are thinking of is Raging Ravine

thaimaishuu is right

When a permanent gets a counter, the counter stays, no matter if the permanent loses/changes it's type the counter will remain.

That is very interesting and not how I've been playing this. As a related question to follow up this topic:

If I pay the 1 to activate Inkmoth Nexus , then equip something to it - say Piston Sledge . . what happens at the end of my turn? The way we've been playing it, the equipment falls off due to the creature no longer existing. But if counters stay tracked, would equipment stay on as well?

I am pretty sure equipment falls off at the end of turn. Like 90 percent sure.

The equipment will fall off. Unlike counters on a permanent, equipments are constantly checking to see if the target creature it is equipped to is legal. When Inkmoth Nexus no longer becomes a valid target aka stops being a creature, the equipment falls off upon this check.

I have a some what similar question, what if I have a Blinkmoth Nexus and I turn it into a creature to chump block and I give it a a Giant Growth to block against an infect creature like Plague Stinger . What will be happen to the land? Since both the effect of the power up and the additional card type wear off at the end of the turn, does the land stay or do I have to sacrifice it due to state base effects of P/T of 0/0? If it stays it keeps the -1/-1 counter and next time I activate it again would I have to sacrifice it?

Since Blinkmoth Nexus is a creature until end of turn if its P/T drop to 0/0 or below it dies post combat, so bye bye land! Good news is, you killed the Plague Stinger as well

Well if Giant Growth gave it +3+3 it would survive the combat and make it to the end of the turn where it turns into a land right? So in which order does it work? does the Giant Growth drop off first or does it turn into a land first? It would be my understanding that if it turned into a land first reducing its power to 0 would not kill it since its a land... Am I right about this?

@-MisterJ- and ninjaking92 Please don't necro 2 year or even 2 month old questions. If you have a new question, add it to the queue.

All end of turn and this turn effects end simultaneously, so the land is never a creature with 0 or less toughness. It just turns into a land with a -1/-1 counter on it. If the Blinkmoth Nexus is turned into a creature again, it will die as a state-based action.
