Do damage doubling effect stack?
Asked by Joshuawesome 11 years ago
For instance, let's say we have Gisela, Blade of Goldnight , Furnace of Rath , and Curse of Bloodletting out. I cast a Searing Spear . How much damage does it do?

They do.
You have one instance of "do 3 damage" that's about to happen. All three replacement effects perk up and say "Hey, wait, damage is about to be applied, that's my cue" (assuming you targeted the Cursed player with the Spear).
The first one applies, and changes "do 3 damage" into "do 6 damage", and then falls off. Then the second one applies, turning it into "do 12 damage", and the last one turns it into "do 24 damage". Replacement effects don't replace the same event more than once, so they only apply once each to this single event.

So, if I'm understand correctly... with the aforementioned cards in play, a 10 point Fireball
would hit for 80 damage? Like so:
- 10-point Fireball
- Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
makes it a 20-point Fireball
- Furnace of Rath
makes it a 40-point Fireball
- Curse of Bloodletting
makes it an 80-point Fireball
Is that right?

Yup. Each one sees damage about to happen, and they all line up with the intent of "I'm going to change that damage about to happen into twice the damage." At that point you can sort of think of it like a factory assembly line - the event is going to pass through all the steps in the machine before it comes out and happens.

One thing that I noticed about Furnace of Rath the other day was the impact it would have in a Stuffy Doll deck. If the doll is dealt damage it effectively quadruples the damage that it reflects. The damage dealt to the doll is doubled... Then the damage the doll itself deals is doubled.

Furnace of Rath does combo very nicely with Stuffy Doll . It should be noted that the other two doubling cards in the original question don't, though (unfortunately). Still good for ramping up the Comet Storm s and such.
