Can Vexing Shusher allow a spell to bypass Hexproof?

Asked by Blake11911 11 years ago

First of all, thank you very much to all you guys! I just got into magic a couple weeks ago and the Q&A section of this website has helped me so much already!

Example: I want to target a creature with an instant kill card, or perhaps a raw damage card that will result in the creatures death, may i use http://tappedout.net/mtg-card/vexing-shusher/ to bypass Hexproof and damage/kill the creature ? Is Hexproof not considered an "ability" because it's passive ?

Thanks!

These cards don't interact the way you want them to. Vexing Shusher targets a spell on the stack, and makes the spell uncounterable (IE: a spell like Counterspell or Mana Leak won't counter it). You can only counter a spell or ability while it's on the stack.

Hexproof prevents a permanent on the battlefield from being the target of a spell or ability.

A card that gets around Hexproof would be something that doesn't target the creature (Mutilate , Supreme Verdict , Bonfire of the Damned , etc. You could also use Glaring Spotlight to nullify hexproof.
