Are vehicles considered Non-creature spells?

Hey there,

So, for some cards in Jeskai it matters if I'm casting a non-creature spell, so I'm wondering if I'm playing Kykar, Wind's Fury as my commander, if I cast a Vehicle would it trigger?

A Vehicle card will only be a creature spell when you cast it if it has "Creature" on the type line or something in its rules text makes it count as a creature spell when you cast it (and if it has "Creature" on the type line, it counts if there isn't rules text altering this; see below). To my knowledge, there are currently no Vehicles that count as creatures when you cast them, so they are non-creature spells. Kykar, Wind's Fury will trigger.

For an example of a card with "Creature" on the type line that might not be a creature spell when you cast it, see something with the Bestow mechanic, such as Boon Satyr . If you cast it using Bestow, it is not a creature spell.

Unless otherwise specified on the card (as Bestow cards do), the spell you cast always has the properties of the card's type line. So a Vehicle or something like Guardian Idol won't be a creature spell even if they could end up being creatures on the battlefield. Similarly, Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle and Erebos, God of the Dead are creature spells even if they won't be creatures when they resolve and enter the battlefield.
