Rakdos Control in Standard

I've been looking around at a few different decks, and decided that Rakdos Control would be interesting (although not entirely reliable). I was on the hunt for good ideas and decided to check out the forums. Drop me a line if you have good ideas for a mostly cheap, but concise deck! I can't wait to hear back!!
@ Rayenous
Havoc Festival
will leave both at 1 life since half of one rounded up is 1. Of course if they're at one, a burn spell should seal the deal anyway.

(Excuse double post, but I should post something constructive, I just forgot.) Rakdos control is certainly doable. It'd probably be a lot of creature hate so things like Hero's Downfall or Doom Blade with a Rakdos's Return as a finish or hand control. Rakdos likes to kill creatures and control the opponents hand in my eyes, so something along those lines could work.

@Katarkind
I'm a bit confused by what you mean. If someone is at 1 life, then 0.5 rounded up = 1, meaning they lose 1 life and die.

A player CAN lose to the card IF their life total is at 1 when the triggered ability is on the stack. The LIFE LOSS is rounded up, not the LIFE TOTAL.
So for instance, if you were at 15 when the triggers occurs, you would lose 8 life (15/2 = 7.5 rounded up to 8) and thus your life total would be at 7

Excellent ideas! I'm not sure about putting my faith into Havoc Festival
because it's a little inconsistent. However, I do think it's VERY fun. Creature hate + Master sounds good, but that then begs the question: Do you build more to red or black? I figure red for Anger of the Gods
and other shenanigans, but black is maybe better in general? What do you think?

here's what I would do, get the cards I want to paly and think will be strong, figure out he number symbol of each and then set the mana up to cover that, though I would run 4 shocks and 4 guildgates, and then the basics (12) leaning toward which color had the most symbols, and 4 Mutavault in feb, we'll have the r/b scry to replace the guildgate. Though, I might take mono-b and alter that to splash red for the few red cards I want.

Here we go. The curve is complete poop, but this is just a prototype to build off of. I'm aware it's missing a few cards. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/rakdos-control-theros-standard/

if youre worried about the curve you could play jund and get mystics, or run with DRS and hope they discard lands

True, but I'm going to be stubborn and really zoom in on this specific combination. What you're saying has weight and is completely true; but the meta is already inundated with boring, cookie-cutter decks. I really wanted to start this thread so I could design a more original deck.

If you want to link your deck on this site, simply take the last section and surround with double [ ] (format is [ [ deckname ] ] with no spaces)
For yours it would be: [ [ rakdos-control-theros-standard ] ] without spaces and it should link link below

I tried that and couldn't get it to work. :( But thanks. The more you know!

An interesting win-con would be Havoc Festival .
You just need to be aware of the "win range"... meaning that because they lose life first, there are certain life total ranges where they will lose, and others where you would lose.
If they are 16-20, you need to be 16+.
If they are 8-15, you need to be 8+ (so even if they are at 15, and you're at 8, you win the race.)
If they are 4-7, you need to be 4+
If they are 2-3, you need to be 2+
If they are at 1, you win.
Of course, in those colors you will probably burn for the last 3-4, so you can widen the ranges a bit... additional calculations would be needed to know when best to play the Havoc Festival .
Use Erebos, God of the Dead and Skullcrack , to prevent early life gain, and some black Extort
...Of course, Master of Cruelties + a burn is probably easier...
(I've put too much thought into Havoc Festival )
